Why the frick, does a capital i and a lowercase L (example: I l) look the same?! I hate it so much. Ive got an auto generated password and its got these letters in it and I cant copy paste it so I have to type it but I have NO IDEA is its l or I..... ugh /rant

For this reason, certain systems, especially in the Linux world, in text-mode UIs, like console/telnet, are prohibiting symbols which can be confused with one another, and potentially lock out the user or the administrator from their machine. For example, you can't have I or l or 0 and O (which have the same size in fixed-width characters)
Serif-fonts exist for a reason. Of course sans-serif fonts can indeed be made to appropriately distinguish characters.
