I own an ATI TV Wonder Pro and ever since I've had it, I have had problems with it ever since. The card turned out to be fine, as well as the drivers. However the Multimedia Center software was very buggy. Then as of the new v9.13 where the software refuse to work with my Audigy 4 soundcard, I completly abandoned it.

I have found a solution though that works for me. VirtualDub.

I basically use VirtualDub and capture video through it. The downside is that VirtualDub only captures in AVI, but after some tweaking, I am not only to capture in AVI, but I am able to do it while encoding in DivX for video and Lame MP3 for audio.

The settings I have chosen reflect both very high quality video and audio while not eating up a lot of hard drive space. I am also taking advantage of VirtualDub's special timing options so I don't lose frames during the real-time video capture, or have audio/video sync problems. Here is my computer hardware at the time of this writing.

    MOTHERBOARD: MSI K7N2 Delta2 (MS-6570E)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (1.733 GHZ)
    DIMM Slot 01: Kingston 256MB 333MHz DDR PC2700 DIMM CL2.5
    DIMM Slot 02: Kingston 256MB 333MHz DDR PC2700 DIMM CL2.5
    DIMM Slot 03: Kingston 1GB 333MHz DDR PC2700 DIMM CL2.5
AGP Slot: ATI Radeon X850 Pro (256 MB)
    PCI Slot 01: Nothing
PCI Slot 02: ATI TV Wonder Pro
    PCI Slot 03: Nothing
PCI Slot 04: Sound Blaster Audigy 4 (SB0610)
    PCI Slot 05: Nothing
    IDE 01: Western Digital 40GB (7200 RPM) (WD400BB-75FHA1)
    IDE 02: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S
    Power Supply: Antec TruePower 2.0 430Watt (Model: TPII-430) (+5V|36A) (+12v1|17A) (+12v2|17A) (+3.3V|28A)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP SP2

And here are the settings I use to do realtime video capture encoding on my PC.

    Format: AVI
    Resolution: 640 X 480
    Frame Rate: 30.00 FPS
Video Compressor: DivX v6.1.1 (Target Quantizer: 4, Encoding Mode: High Performance, Light Noise Reduction, De-interlace mode)
Audio Compressor: Lame MP3 (44100 Hz, 128 kbps CBR, Stereo)

This is my method of ridding myself of ATI MultiMedia Center. What is yours?
