There is no need really if you have all the connectors you need. 7 years is nothing for a psu.

Noice. I see in some reviews that the latest kit is happy to kick harder than what its branded at.
There is also a sweet spot for energy efficiency and basically: find the total wattage of your system at full load and then get a PSU approx 20% higher than your PC's total wattage.
    Or some thing like that?

Well, been having some trouble booting lately. But that could just be an issue with FP connectors. Gotta get a new case next.

If the PSU isn't showing any failure I would keep it, if it's not rebooting randomly, completely shutting down or CTD.
My old PSU was an 850w Corsair Bronze, it started having random CTD or reboots in certain games, lasted 8 years, good life span.

Edit, trouble booting could also be a PSU problem, but it could also be a MoBo thing.

True, if you got a good one. But a PSU is the life blood of a PC, I'm just being cautious.

I've narrowed it down to the PSU or FP connectors. MoBo is in tip top shape. I've pushed this PSU hard, I got over 4k hours in GTA online in idle and ran an FX 8350 @ 4.4 ghz for around 6 years. She'll be a good back up .

I know right? I kinda feel bad for replacing it. Is that a thing?

It was a joke, like others have said if you don't suffer from crashing (most probably at high load/stressing) then your PSU is probably fine. They last a long time, especially if its a PSU from a reputable manufacturer. There is a reason why they give long warranties.

If you do get a new one I can vouch for EVGA, Seasonic, and Silverstone.

I know it was a joke, its all good. I've used lots of EVGA GPU's over the years so I trust them. Gotta say though, Rosewill has been really good.

they changed oem from superflower I/II (excellent platforms tho evga charged an arm and a leg for them) to fsp recently.

you're getting 10-12y warranty on new units
most of the good old ones aren't technically worse either

"Don't ever skimp on the power supply"
    Internet wisdom.
    eVGA, FSP, Superflower are good.

@jbscotchman as the meme goes, I lead other to treasures I cannot posses.
Here in EU that monitor is impossible to get.

I may have bought this in haste. After doing some research after buying it (I do that a lot) I don't like the sound of the cable length. I don't think it would work well in my case. Gonna keep looking around.

If you're having issues, no harm in upgrading/swapping it out. But yeah, overall don't worry if a PSU is 7 years old. Compared to other parts, they can last a long time and live through multiple builds. It's one of the main reason we say "Don't skimp on the PSU" and if you don't skimp, it'll last you pretty damn long.

My previous PSU got swapped out at 8,5 years of age and even then I wasn't sure if it was a Mobo or PSU problem.
