well compared to your desktop, its clearly inferior

CPU, Pentium M has about the same IPC as a amd64, so its 1.86 Vs 2.6
Ram, i doubt the 915 does dual channel, but even if, ram is the strong point of the amd, especially with it clocked at 470 mhz
graphics, the x600 is basicly a 9600, so your 6800 is far more powerfull

its a very nice lappy, built in TV tuner and all, but certainly not even near top of the line, and nowhere near the performance you have on/under your desk

by the way, i hope you didnt really pay something like the listed 1600 dollars for it right?

The mobile x600 will play games pretty badly. It only has 4 pipelines, 128bit memory, and low clocks.

The CPU is good, but it will be slightly slower than what you have now, except in multithreaded apps and multitasking.

You could have gotten an equivalent system from Dell for somewhat less. Sorry to make you feel bad.

huh, what do you mean multithreaded? the specs i have state a intel pentium M 750, single core dothan running 1.86....

and yeah, for 800-900 you can have a dimension 6400 with core duo

Actually the pentium m has greater IPC than athlons, especially the 512KB cache ones. The processor is probably equivalent to a 2.0-2.1gHz Venice.

Sorry, I thoguht you had a duo, not solo.

I was a little off about prices, but from Dell you could have gotten the same with a better graphics card for 1350. A while ago they were taking 20-35% off the list price, which would have made it a lot cheaper than that.
