after uninstalling nvidia drivers from pc, run pc in safe mode ,run driver sweeper and after your pc restarts, again run driver sweeper. [do this because 2 files are still left]. now again run driver sweeper till all the files have been deleted. make sure you analyse and then clean while using driver sweeper.

I was wondering if this section still applies when using Driver Sweeper 1.5.5 (for both nvidia and ATI, especially ATI, since now I own one)

How do you prevent Vista from installing its own video driver once you restart? I checked the option to ask me before it installs but it always does it anyway leaving me to install the new driver over the windows standard driver. Is there any way to avoid this?

I've tried this and it still loads the default and prompts for a restart. This happen for or five times last night. Could the problem be that I'm uninstalling though the device manager and not add/remove programs in the control panel?

I'm not sure what the problem with your OS is, in that case, Famous627.

Do you have all the latest updates installed?

When was the last time you re-installed Vista?

My machine is up to date but its been over a year since I've installed vista. I was going to wait for SP2 before I reformat and start clean.

Thanks for helping out. At least I know its on my end and not a vista thing. I'll try a few more things when I get home tonight but if I can't get it working I'm just going to keep installing over the old drivers.

Ok, I know this thread is getting a bit long in the tooth but... I'm not really sure which cleaner/sweeper is the most effective? Sweeper 1.5.5? The new Sweeper Beta? or the Latest Driver Cleaner? Any thoughts?
