very good question! <IMG SRC="smileys/confused.gif"> i want one 2 Ghz with the Abit TH7 II Raid!! <IMG SRC="smileys/bounce.gif">
The Northwood will launch at 2.2, the Willamette core will be able go to 2Ghz. As far price I'm not at liberty yet to give any numbers, but it will be very competitively priced. They should be available around Christmas time of this year.
Hey is intel planning to stop production of the Willamette at 2ghz? and when are they actually going to release the Northwood? <IMG SRC="smileys/smile.gif">
Yes the Willamete chip will be faded out of production once Northwood comes. And NW will be available approx. November to Christmas time. The batch of production lots launched just last week.
Christmastime is coming soon!<br> Now the 2Ghz Northwood will be my Present! <IMG SRC="smileys/bounce.gif"> <br>
By competitively priced he means $500+. hhahahah. The 2ghz P4 Willamette is $749 right now.<br> <br> <A HREF="http://www.cdw.com/shop/search/results.asp?grp=CPX&FilteredGroup=CPX&FilteredMFG=INT&FilteredKeywords=&FilteredSORTORDER=GROUP&FILTERBTN.x=34&FILTERBTN.y=9" TARGET=_blank>CDW pricing</A>
No by competetively priced I mean affordable, yes the 2gig Willamtte is chip is outrageously priced right now, it will drop in a month or two. The Northwood however will be on a .13 micron process, much smaller chip = more die per wafer = lower cost to produce = better priced processor. Plus once the 300mm factory starts pumpin em out it will be extremely inexpensive to manufacture the chips.
