The main point was to drive the providers into a single payer scheme. It has been working.

Just another reason that Trump won.

Brought to you by people who believe acreage votes. The vote was essentially 50-50. But you know, one side or the other is always claiming mandate by the 1% that separates them...oh wait...1%...ha ha..

The "Affordable Care Act" was never about providing choice. It was about health care reform that appeased insurance companies by forcing people to buy health insurance.

Problem with insurance companies leaving the exchanges is that, in some states, you only have 2 methods for buying health insurance. Either through an employer or through an exchange (such as healthcare.gov). Either way, they are price restricted by law. If they are offering insurance to companies, they're required by law to ensure the prices of the policies they offer are a maximum of 9.66% of the lowest paid employee's wages (which is still ridiculously high). If not, the company has to cover the difference, which will lead companies to seek alternatives.

In the end, the health insurance companies are the only ones that actually benefit. They have guaranteed revenue.

Until the "Affordable Care Act" is repealed, it's possible to fix the problems. The problem is, you have to ignore the doctors and health insurance companies. That's something Congress is completely unwilling to do. Doctors and health insurance companies are the root cause of the high medical costs.

The 4 biggest failings of the "Affordable Care Act"....
    1. The requirement to pay for health insurance or pay a tax penalty
    2. Qualification for assistance is based on employee only health coverage costs, regardless of how many people are going to be insured.
    3. 9.66% of an employee's wages is excessive
    4. There is absolutely no real choice for "consumers" on who they get insurance from. If your employer offers insurance, you're required by law to accept it, unless you can prove that the cost to cover ONLY YOU exceeds the magical 9.66% of your income even if you have to get insurance for dependents.

(For me, the company offered insurance accounts for 9.83% of my income, yet I'm required by law to provide insurance coverage for my son if I get insurance for myself. To insure myself and my son, the cost accounts for roughly 29.5% of my income. That policy, also includes a $5000/person deductible, risking hiking my costs to roughly 64.5% of my income. How am I supposed to support myself and my son at that point?)

In it's current incarnation, the "Affordable Care Act" is essentially legalized extortion.... Allowing Insurance companies the ability to tailor policy pricing based on income, is Gov't sponsored discrimination....

Btw, I actually tweeted Trump and congratulated him. Doubt he actually cares though.

Actually, Clinton won the popular vote. But since we don't elect Presidents based on the popular vote, it doesn't really matter.

You don't have to buy health insurance. There is a way to skirt around the ACA and not get penalized at the end of the year. Legally, the irs can only tax your federal return . If you adjust your withholdings to where you get very little or no return at all, there's nothing for the irs to tax. They can't garnish your paycheck for not having insurance either.

Oh, you mean the 1% who were camping out on Wall St to protest against the bankers who created the recession that led to the "1%" ( which is made up of Hillary supporters parents and grandparents ) to lose everything they worked all their lives for, due to one of Hillarys largest supporters - Wall St bankers...

    That 1%?

You can file for an exemption, but good luck getting it approved or even finding the forms.

The IRS taxes your income. The "penalty" is added to whatever you would owe or subtracted from whatever you would get back.

I know it's a late response.... was away for the past 9-ish hours.

He's all about creating jobs.... yet didn't he just recently shut down one of his casinos? :3eyes:

Not only doesn't want to tax the rich more than the lower and middle class, but supposedly talked about a tax cut for everyone, INCLUDING the wealthy. I believe i also read somewhere that he talked about not requiring taxes to be paid on money made/held overseas? :3eyes:

Fix inner cities? Probably never going to happen. ISIS? Believe "Bomb the sh*t out of them" comes to mind. He's against the idea of using troops alongside air strikes, after all. Monitoring Muslims? Wouldn't doubt it. Which i'm sure will go GREAT with his ambition for more RELAXED gun laws than we already have. Deportation... maybe, but not nearly to the scale that his little fantasies can dream of.

    Looking after veterans.... possibly.

Scrap military spending? HAHAHA! He's actually for MORE military spending! But he apparently does not feel like the EPA needs any more funding, and even talked about abolishing it.

So let's try to sum this up....

America has elected, in as brain-splosionally unpredictable of a landslide as it was, a commander in chief who is racist, arrogant, egotistical, self-centered, borderline maniacal... Who has no plans for the USA in terms of infrastructure, technological growth, the economy, and pretty much everything else that's QUITE important to the whole idea of making "America great again". On top of all that... he doesn't give two ****s if we destroy the environment, because global warming is "Chinese bull****". Which is quite surprising that he could even say that. Haven't we had months with record high temperatures for the past like.... 18 months by now? I know this past June marked 14 straight months of record temperatures. ****, we had a 60-some degree Christmas last year..... IN PENNSYLVANIA!

But hey.... he's going to (never) build that wall that Mexico is (not in a million years) going to pay for.

This is why Trump won. People have been sick and tired of being labeled what the majority are not, for long enough.

As for the Casino, it was Carl Icahn choice to shut it down.

    • "On October 10, 2016, Icahn closed the Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, citing a $350 million USD loss over a few years as well as being unable to reach a negotiation deal with union workers on strike"
    • "'I felt they should have been able to make a deal,' Trump said in a recent interview. 'It's hard to believe they weren't able to make a deal."
    • "Icahn reached his own Popeye moment on August 3, when he determined the $350million he had lost investing in, and then owning, the Taj Mahal was enough.
    • "It was then that he decided to close the casino, fearing he would lose an additional $100million next year."

    Also,

"But hey.... he's going to (never) build that wall that Mexico is (not in a million years) going to pay for."

That wall that is meant to block off Mexico. Mexico, that country that no one who is threatening to flee from America, is moving to, but instead choosing to run away to Canada, that Canada being a nation which is run by a "cis white male", a nation that is predominantly white? That mexico, that wall?

If Mexico isnt as bad as hillary supporters claim, then why arent they running to Mexico? If they did, then for once i their lives, everyone from African americans, Muslims and white people would know what its really like being a minority in a country that really doesnt have democracy or tolerance.

How supportive would those pretty white blonde Amy Schumers and Cyrus's feel about Mexico when they're being slaved out on the streets of Mexico by corrupt police and drug cartels or being held for ransom and then limbs and heads cut off for failed randoms demands?

    That wall?

Very misleading. Although Trump won the electoral vote, Hillary (as of this point in time) is ahead in the popular vote, although by a very slim margin. Could change when everything is finally tallied up, but still goes to show the country is split down the middle. It cannot be considered a 'mandate' for Trump.

Most of the counties that voted for Trump are places where no one lives, or that no one would want to live.

But it is time to give Trump his chance and see what he can achieve.

Looking forward to seeing the Big Wall Mr Trump. 1933 miles.... That's a very big wall! Gunna cost a lot of money and need a lot of people to do it. I wonder where they will find the workforce to do it?

Also waiting to see Hillary locked up.

Or was that just locker room talk?

Sorry if that came off as offensive, which I did not mean, but when middle America is mostly engaged in farming (subsidized), and with the lost of manufacturing from the last what 20 years, the top 10 states really carry everyone else in terms of public development and federal spending.

Most Federal Taxes that gets collected are spent outside of CA and given how developed CA is relative to neighbor states, an emergency will need a lot to propped back up. Not good considering its also on the West Coast Faultlines. Earthquake territory.

California total spending as predicted by 2017 in Billions of USD:

State spending $220.4. local spending $276.6. Total Spending $496.9. GDP (state level) $2,702.3

    Source - http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/compare_state_spending_2017bF0G

With nearly 2 TRILLION USD leftover, and if it really secedes, it can have a military spend and military nearly equal to China (215B USD per year) at ~ 10%.

The only "country" that can really out spend "California" militarily would be the USA as a whole, or TX or NY at the state level which are very close.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures

If CA, TX and NY can secede and leave the country, the USA would be totally ****ed. Same if the West and East coast breaks off with neighbor states including your state.

TX I've included because those guys are mostly very cool. Saw this trending and made me laugh:

Of course, the rest of the other states or "Feds" won't allow that to happen. Can't have the cash cow leave the farm.

Funny how these prophecies always seem to turn up after the event

She predicted the Chernobyl disaster, but they only discovered this 20 years later... not really a prediction IMO if you discover it after it happens, more like a twist on someone's words to fit an event that has already passed
