Hello! how i overclock my i7 920 to 3.2 ghz. I tried alot of settings but got nowhere. If anyone has successfully clocked such a simple setting could they post their BIOs settings please? System:- Main Board MSI Eclipse; Corei7 920 2.6Ghz;3X2GB DDR3 TR3X6G1600C8D;Segate Hard Disk 1000GB;MSI GTX 295;Casing HAF 932 ;Cooler Master 750W;Cooler Master-90HS/120 fan;Lite on DVD Combo 2;Cooling Solution Cooler Master Z600
this is actually the wrong place for asking about the i7 and mb overclocking but it is very ez to do with such a low overclock on the 17 920 just increase the CPU_Bclk FSB from the stock number ( dont remember what it is off thw top of my head) but start out with a number 10 more...then reboot and let it go into windows....restart and back into bios and do the same only now go 5 numbers more..( keep doing this till your @ 3.4 ) you should now be in the 170-180 area for CPU_BCLK FSB ...with an I7 920 you should get to 3.5 -3.6 even without over volting...but certainly to 3.4 with no voltage increase
Only if he has a D0 and not a C0 like mine I needed to up my voltages on the vcore to 1.29V for my OC to be stable. C0's are easy to OC but need a little more juice, but the D0's are insanely easy to OC. My friend got his to 4.0GHz without even moving any voltages just to BCLK. It was Prime95 stable for 5 hours and then crashed. So he upped the vcore to 1.25V and its perfectly stable. Ran 8 hours of Prime and still going strong at 73*C.
dear aliawaiskhan Some over-clocking Forum or even MSI own Forum http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?board=27.0 would have been better choice for that question or this thread on Guru3d http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 would have given you easier and more specific answer and you could have some great over-clocking guides there .
