i'm using vista ultimate, i unistalled the driver (nvidia) to try another drivers. aero wasn't working with the beta drivers so i unistalled them and installed the old drivers back and aero still not working. i thied the user stop uxsms and start, with no luck. redidit to change the composition to 1 and compositionpolicy to 2 no luck. what else can i do, aero theme is not there anymore all i get is vista classic.
Go in System (Control Panel) and check your system rating. Try to reevaluate it. Should activate it. If not, try to go in Personalization (Control Panel) > Themes and check if Windows Vista Theme is there.
Ok, I just noticed you having the same problem as me. Also tried everything. - Removing graphics/chipset driver and installing a WHQL one. (Still didn't work) - Re-evaluating also not work. - Well the windows vista Theme is there, but not the ultimate one (or the one that should enable the aero functions.. And also looked on several other sites (including microsoft ones, but no luck sofar) And yes, before you ask: My version = genuine Ultimate SP1 of vista..
Command prompt to turn off/on aero: Rundll32 dwmApi #102 - turns glass effect on Rundll32 dwmApi #105 - flip 3d on Rundll32 dwmApi #104 - aero off completly All commands tested and working.
