i've got a Intel C2D E4600, i want to get it to 2,8-3,0Ghz but games freezes if i have it at 240x12, memory ratio 1:1, with 667 ddr2. stock cooler, temps= idle:30 load at 2,8Ghz: 50c-55c but in games my pc reboots , what shall i do? new cooler or can i get it by adjusting the multiplier or what? thanks
stock, i think it's 1.2 or somthn...ye i know, but how do you change the multiplier? can't do it thru the bios
If there's no option in the BIOS, you might have to update it with a newer version from MSI's website.
1.2xx? i think you may need to bump up the voltage to go faster. Not sure about MSI, but asus board needs to disable the ratio support, to enable changing multiplier. again not sure about about MSI, but been told that 945 is not quite a great o/c board. good luck.
okay, i'l try those things, is it risky trying to update bios? and how do you do it so you don't mess up? please give me step by step how to update, i would really appreciate it i know i have bios version 9.4 and there is a 9.5 version availabel
i think these days updating bios is a lot easier (with the windows base utility programs such as asus updater) but not sure if it is not as risky as before. not sure MSI equivalent of the the asus program.
They are very risky. I should know, this is my 5th asrock 4core dual to go :/ . Stick to floppy disc, or usb flash drives imo, even then its not exactly 'safe'.
