Very true. I suppose it would also help if the actual drivers were multi-threaded too as that would give a noticeable boost in performance. Alas, neither AMD nor NVIDIA show any signs of releasing multi-threaded drivers.
The PC version suffered because of the consoles but the console versions still can't maintain 30 fps which makes them choppy. The PS3 version struggles to keep in the mid 20s and it gave me a headache while playing it. Consoles are great, but at this point their tech is just too old and it's hurting gaming in general.
DX9, DX10 or whatever.. It looks great!!! Even on my 9800GTX it looks awesome and the SP action is very well done even the AI is 10x better than the previous versions.
I seem to remember when the first Crysis came out..... everyone moaned how they couldnt run it maxed on on DX10. So they make a sequel which according to most reviews (not got it yet myself) looks even better then the orginal and which runs well on most systems, then everyone moans about it only runs on DX9. If it was a DX11 only game, people with anything less than 580 or 6970 with i7 would be here berating about how they couldn't run it maxed. Crytek cant win it seems to me.
Stukov, not according to the sales, not according to reviewers, and not according to the fanbase of the first SC. Very few, the minority dislike it. I'd not call that dropping the ball. They included tons of graphics options, great performance, awesome gameplay, incredible CGI, and a nice story.
and don't forget....(if you read carefully)... "BONUS XP" they didn't lie, XP and DX9 go hand in hand
I remember when gaming was about really good games and not about "ZOMG its DX9 not DX11, its trash, this game sucks...." gaming in the end is about playing fun games not playing games in dx9 or dx11... You can't label a game bad just because it doesnt support the small majority of people who have the superior tech. Sorry but thats the truth. And I will remain a PC gamer till some day where they no longer make PC games.
The thing is; In most peoples eyes, crysis was just pure graphics. The gameplay behind it lacked seriously according to them. So if you take away it's graphics, the game is "useless" in their eyes. And because the game was so demanding, not everyone could get to see the graphics the game was so famous for. For some, crytek had 1 part of the formula right, and that was the graphics, but it lacked the other; gameplay. Now to some it would seem that they would've learned from their 'mistakes' and get it right this time. From what I'm reading it seems they got the formula wrong again, this time the other way around. They made a game that has enjoyable gameplay (so it seems) but the graphical aspect isn't what it could've (or arguably should've) been. Which is what pisses most people off. The game could have been a great one, if they had set the great graphics standard like they did with crysis, combining it with the gameplay the've managed to deliver with this title. Let's hope Dice gets it right with Battlefield 3. Something crysis 2 should've been. A stunning graphical experience with an amazing gameplay experience begind it.
I can't say I'm not running it without any issues..to be honest this game has caused Windows7 to Bluescreen on me twice for what I believe is likely heat releated as my 9800GTX is getting a workout it's not seen before on just High settings. I can play for maybe an hour before it locks up and something happens. I'm going to have to upgrade I guess in order to run it for a few hours at a time or just go through a checkpoint and then stop a while.
DICE already failed on BF3 - They added Ranks and Stats therefore it has already killed off any chance at teamwork and gameplay the way battlefield was built on with 1942.
And then again people wouldn't be able to run it slickric21 is right crytek can't win, I just started playing it still looks stunning all things considered I kinda miss the exploring and lush jungle warzone though
I've been saying it for years: Consoles are the cancer of the gaming world. This current gen has been hands down the worst. The PS3's 20fps 960x540 with low everything (absolutely sickening textures) tearing to hell and back is just vomit inducing. Even at the end of the PS3's life everything still lags and is low res crap passed off as 720p. uke2:
