DarReviews has published an interesting article called 'How Crytek doomed Crysis 2's PC version'. Here's an excerpt: For starters the game doesn't support DX11. Although Crytek stated that they will... More...
You know, while the game is pretty fun, got to totally agree. The PC version has suffered greatly. I really hate preset graphic options. I want to be able to turn certain features on or of, not just based on presets. I find that unacceptable that it's becoming the norm in games these days. Anyone remember the days when you'd open a Graphics option config and it'd have like 15 drop down menus, with like 3 choices each? You could customize every little thing. I like how some PC games try though with stuff like this. Resolution: VSync Shadows Those are your three options in alot of games these days.
As Crysis 2 appears to not to have been written with me (read PC Users) I may just give it a miss! Controversial I know but it appears its the only way to teach them a lesson.
Yep agreed, played the demo, played the dragon age 2 demo, personally id put them down as the 2 biggest flops of 2011
Well let's hope DICE puts their money where their mouths are and release a proper PC game, we've been waiting and waiting and so far, nothing. If DICE pulls this off properly by giving PC gamers what they have been asking over and over again, their sales will skyrocket. deltatux
Well, I'm dissapointed by Cryteks actions, but the game still looks great even in dx9, and plays great aswell. Even if it is a "port" they've done a good job. Let's just wait if they correct their mistakes..
Ver depressing state of affair , tbh i have more fun with my android smartphone these days than i do on my p.c , even thinking about selling one of my 470's , things are pretty bleak for us pc gamers at the mo.
I'm bored of the games that come out for the pc. They are just like the consoles and for that I never bought one. I want super graphics ,super sound and lots of stuff to play about with in the menu's. Thats what i remember about pc's a good ten years ago. Thats why i made a pc up. Come on game makers use your brains.Thats what pc's are for.
And this is why they don't get my money anymore, not because of piracy. And for our good friends at EA and Crytek.
i might be in the minority, but i'm probably one of the few who rarely complains about graphics (unless they're truly abysmal), MP, modding etc only companies i don't like are EA (their decisions) and possibly Ubisoft (the DRM) and in both cases i found a way to save myself a headache. Crytek? well the lack of initial DX11 support sounds a lot like F1 2010.. they released a DX11 patch a month after the game was released, nothing new, also we knew right from the start that despite the words of Yerli reassuring pc gamers, the game being ported would've suffered anyway, so in the end all that matters is the gameplay and Crysis 2 is fun indeed. always taken developers words with a grain anyway.
what about the charts that showing most of the planet have Windwos XP and non DX11 gpus? maybe they dont give a sht on DX11 because of that..we r GURU3D guys, we have top stuff..but rest of the world? Anyway, if they would put money on to this , i would also tel lthem not to develop DX11 for the game IF it costs alot.
The problem with that view is that people such as those here on guru3d are the PC gamers they are selling to not some percentage that still has XP. Enthusiast gamers drive the PC gaming market, if they didn't there wouldn't be these new graphics cards or CPU's and related kit released so often as there'd be no money in it. The type you are referring to are the ones who go to PC world buy the game without looking at the specs and then take it back and complain that it didn't work on their PC which probably is an old PC world model with an intel HD chip and nothing else.
i will not buy it...only burned people who care about MP shall buy it...i dont like lies... we all expected dx11 platform...if you believe...that with a patch carrying a couple of megabytes, and transformation to dx11, you will see great graphics, i am gonna laugh... if the patch isnt hundreds of mb, or gb maybe, there will not be a great difference between dx9 and dx11...it's just a platform game...sit back and press "Start"...
I thiought nvidia gave them a few million to make this game uber (correct me if i'm wrong), so if it's just a dx11 patch with a few 'effects' , to me it doesn't sound as if nvidias investment was value for money....
After spending a little fortune in upgrading my PC last year (my country is poor), I am really fed up with DX9 games. They are fun, all right (e.g. NFS Hot Pursuit), but the graphics are too simplistic. Now, Crytek follows the old DX9 way again when I was expecting them to put the next cornerstone of cutting-edge technology for all PC gamers. I was praying for Crysis 2 not to be another system hog like Crysis. But I never expected it to be DX9! Unbelievable! I was laughing yesterday at the tragedy called Windows Gaming Experience by Microsoft. But I finally realized that Microsoft means it! Really sad. Those avatars are for girls, not for hardcore PC gamers playing tough shooters and RTS's. I still don't know what they are trying to do. Shogun 2 is another sad story. Yes, the game is brilliant, but "STILL" the same bad performance when the screen is too crowded with warriors. STILL having to lower the settings at high res. Practically NO Total War game worked for me "at the time" it was released even when I had high-end videocards in my "rich" past. Now with my mainstream card I shouldn't complain then, but it is still the same story since Shogun 1. Just fed up with the same bloated stuff. To buy a high-end videocard in my poor country for only one videogame is absurd. Well, at least my videocard will run Crysis 2 like a Ferrari. This is totally foolish and sad!
