Bah! Cant ATI do anything right? Or is it EA's evil scheme that all their latest games with shadows will look horrid on ATI cards (ie battlefield 2) ? WHEN will this get fixed, and does anyone know of any cures? :(

It runs smoothly for myself as well, but the shadows are jagged. The game isnt unplayable, it still looks great BUT, knowing that the shadows arent supposed to look that way, ie smooth, just ticks me off. I'll post a screenie in a bit.

    EDIT:
here's a screenie of what I'm talking about:

Are you sure you don't have shadow bugs with NFSMW? The games run smooth but just the blocky shadows. Please capture a image with a car under the tree and let us have a look.

I don't realize that at first until I look it into details.

    Thanks

Ati i'm afraid suck ass with shadows, both in performance and blockyness, lol.

Do any of u guys use the ati tool.

i'm not sure if through optimizations, in ati tool, that its causing this problem.

If you do have above program, try uninstalling it, and all registry settings, and run nfsmw,bf2 again.

Yep, every single option at the max except for AA.

I'll experiment with different options in ATI tray tools and see if any of them help.

EDIT: If you look at the screenshot, one can see that the shadow resolution doesn't scale with distance i.e. the shadow from the tree in the background has bigger blockiness than the car in the foreground

I also remember having a similar problem with Tomb Raider: the angel of darkness (crappy game)(plus also released by EA and shadows were screwed)

I only have that problem with shadows on medium settings. They're fine with max.

I have the shadow bug in BF2 but didn't notice it in NFSMW ... I'll take a looksy tomorrow (at work now). Could it be an EA problem, rather than an ATI problem ?

    Kind regards

im in the same boat....i was a longtime Nvidia fan ever since they first released the Geforce series and last year i went to ATi just to see wat was up on the other end of the spectrum....ever since i've been seeing so many problems, im due for an updated card and ill definately be going back to Nvidia for this type of reason among the newer drivers doing nothing at all to help performance
