What needs to happen when this sort of thing happens is coverage. Not hiding it or using it as a fanboy argument later. It is just as bad and just shows us the constant dumb that is big corporations and their draconian idea of saving face.
I don't think the YT's will let go of this for a while, too profitable. Anyone who thinks they do this strictly to "inform gamers" is incredibly naive. I follow a few YT's as well, because they can be informative. But make no mistake, it's a business, that thrives on controversy. Also, dragging the Nv employee thru the mud and outing his name on the 'net was not needed, the point could have been made without.
I knew about this since Saturday , what a D.ck move from Nvidia the head of PR will get bollocked or he might even " leave the company " . This is exactly what PR personel should not do ! He had caused big damage to the reputation of NVidia , this is wrong . I have only owned Nvidia cards but now I feel that I don't want to give them my hard earned , yes they have some very good products but I feel that I cannot support this sort of behaviour . Bullying reviewers in to submission wth . I am glad that this was made public , big companies think that they can do as they please , i just hope that the "small guys" will not get scared now as they might feel that next time they tell the truth it will be the end for them .
The issue was, that nVidia was trying to dictate how they cards MUST be reviewed, give a negative review, or not seeming to focus on a nVidia feature (like RTX), and they will knock you off the list of reviewers they send their cards for review. Isn't a review supposed to be an objective opinion of a product in the first place? nVidia is effectively telling HWUB that 'it's their way, or the highway'. IF reviewers aren't allowed to express negatives as well as positives (nVidia basically wants all positives), then we might as well read nVidia promotional material on their product and take 'em as 'reviews'. Many have said this was nVidia's way of 'testing the water', to see if they could get away with it. Linus, Jay, Steve....especially Linus ripped nVidia a new one for this, hence the backpedaling by nVidia. I wonder what would have happened if nobody reacted aversely to nVidia's action, would they have proceeded to hit others like they did HWUB? Team Green anyone? The matter has been put to rest with nVidia apologizing for this 'oversight' or overly enthusiastic reaction to HWUB....
