try to get the gainward golden sample 6800gt. it's the best one out there for overclocking at the moment. they're kinda hard to find in stock though. you'll love the 3400+ although i'd suggest getting the DFI Lan Party UT 250gb motherboard though. the best motherboard available for socket 754 cpu's. all the features of the chipset and the best overclocking motherboard available. for ram look for some ram with the TCCD ic chips on them. ocz el platinum rev2 PC3200's have em'. they can handle overclocking from 200mhz(DDR400) to at least 250mhz with some people getting up to 280-300mhz. enjoy.

I wonder how other peoples' performance on the 'follow freeman' level is, especially the outside scenes with the big striders, or the rooftop scene with the battleships.
I did a lot of driver testing in the last few weeks since I got my 6800GT with more or less satisfying results in various benchmarks (3Dmark, HOC HL² Benchmark, ...). But the 'Follow Freeman' level is giving my computer a really hard time, fps with 2x FSAA and 8x AF (1280x1024 res or 1152x864) gives my fps-drops into the tens whenever a lot of action is going on.
People are always stating how great HL² does run on their A64 / GF6800-rigs, but does this extreme performance drop only occur to me?
Would be great if someone could make a timedemo including the 'scenarios' stated above, to get actual numbers.

It looks like your processor, could be the slowdown?

SLI is nice! The hard part was getting my hands on two 6800GT PCIe cards. Tons of 6600GTs available in PCIe, but not many 6800GTs. Luckily, I was able to grab 2 of them from BFG for retail ($399 each).

The weird thing is being able to run 3dMark05 without it being a slide show. It actually runs between 30-60 frames a second. Big improvement from my old rig.
