    guys i just built another budget gaming rig and trust me it rocks ..

    the best thing to date is the card i am so impressed by the fps scores hence i thought i would share it with you guys .

    c2d 2.2 ghz oc to 2.9 ghz stable
    2 gb dhx corsair xms 2 ram
    250gb hdd
    2 dvd writers
    msi 935 neo 3 mobo
    his 3870 512mb ddr4 gpu

    here are the scores , all test run at 1600 1200 res and max setings

    COMPANY OF HEROS

    max = 140
    avg = 72
    min = 32

    FEAR

    max setings and res 4x fsaa and 16x anisotrpoic

    max = 131
    min=29
    avg = 70

    same setings but 2x fsaa and 2x aniso

    max = 160
    min = 32
    avg = 80

    same setings but 2x fsaa and bilenear filtering

    max = 250
    avg = 125
    min = 71 fps

    wowwww

    CRYSIS

    same res high setings

    max = 62 fps
    avg = 51 fps
    min = 30 fps

    this is the best score to date which i have seen , i also have a slu 8800gtx rig and combined they conquer all but just look at this score ..

    its a whole other story with turning on the fsaa and aniso but i have
    not triied it yet .

    apple to apple i have not noticed any change even if u enable them ..

    awesome scores guys...

    just want your opinions , should i oc the card can i get more juice out of
    ittt

    Nice scores. My 3870 plays fear perfect at 1680x1050 with all things maxed except soft shadows. I just dont think this card can handle soft shadows at my resolution and still have playable fps.

    Must be xp, to get that score in Crysis.

    And of course you need to OC it! OC everything!

    My 3870 is at 890/1250 on stock cooling, at 60% fan speed.

    FEAR response and some ideas for budget rig

    Fear is a few years old.... my buddies 7300GS -a laptop Gpu converted to PCB i beleive- can play fear cranked up -his lcd only can display 1280x1024-
    soft shadows and the whole 9 yards with 97% or osmethin like that above 40fps. Hes usin a P4 640 3.2 with 3 gigz of ddr2 667. Its not a stellar rig but it has some balls... point is fear is a lil out dated and not much of an issue for semi current comps.

    I'd like to see how that 3870 fares in some DX10 benchies... combined with AA and full filtering... the stutters will will become apparent...especially as the sprite count rises... the whole reason I tossed my OC'd Sapphire 3870 crossfire for my single 4870 modded to hell.... cant wait to get #2

    However i simply MUST add....

    Nice job dude those are excellent numbers for the specs provided.... if I may ask... what was the budget? How much tweakin went into windows etc? Just curious....if their are minimal to zero tweaks... you may be able to boost that a bit more! Also you might be able to OC and\or manually time those RAM chips for even more performance! Maybe even a slight PCI-X slot OC? say to 105 maybe 110? I'd like to see how it affects the scores as I have never used anything stock in my life lol? :banana:

    I dont think he's full of it if thats what the smell yer implying is... He speciifes that AA and ANSIO are not enabled which REALLY hurt when enabled -especially a 38*0 series card if enabled in crysis... its also widely beleived although not specified that these marks are obtained in XP, which would limit the game to DX9. The hardware combo plus the lack of DX10 and AA AF etc plus an assembler that knows what they are doin - I dont know the OP's ability so i cant vouch beyond that simple statement sadly- COULD produce these numbers...

    I received similar numbers on my machine with a 3870.... my CPU and chipset are more current -i dont count my DDR3 vs his DDR2 as i speculate the impact is little...DDR2 is slower than DDR3 but has tighter timings- but the numbers are within reason i think.

    I for one beleive him

    i wonder what the fuss is about here , i am not breaking any scores or some thing , i gave u guys a lay down of the bench marks .

    i am using win xp i hate vista for now , and yes the filtering options are
    disabled at the moment , frankly i do not notice any sort of a problem to
    enable them in the 1st place .

    as for dx10 title games and benchmarks i have my sli 8800gtx rig for that but still apple to apple the scores are good .

    i was wondering the fuss about a 4850 and 4870 ...

    does a 4850 out perform a 9800gtx or a 9800gx2 or is at par with a gtx260

    and can a 4870 hold its own against a gtx 280 ...

    in dx10 titles at max setings , that is what i wana know ..

    HD4850 is faster(10-15%)in AA/AF than 9800GTX and equal to 9800GTX+(this card willl be faster than HD4850 in lower resolutions)
    HD4870 is belieaved to be faster by 5% than GTX260 , but i would consider them equal. Also many reviews stated that , AA/AF performace is again higher than nvidia equal GTX260.

    No HD4870 has no chances against GTX280 , because , simply GTX280 is much more expensive. ( tho there are some games like Grid and COD4 where HD4870 can beat or be equal to GTX280 ).

    Fuss about HD48xx series, WAS because there were much cheaper at the begnin than nvidia cards offering same performace ( sometimes half of the price).

    I hope , i made things simpler for you :p

    well i'm not saying that you are lying but..it's weird that i don't get at least close to your frames in crysis...i just installed it and give it a benchmark..max 34fps, min 19fps, and avg 29.91 fps....1280x1024, no AA, high settings windows xp...everything in the control center is default..

    19fps was the average in the demo for me @ 1650x1080 on high with a 3850 at stock, I have not found one legitimate looking demo test on the web that can got much over 23 for Crysis on high on a 3870 @ 1650x1080. Apparently the actual game with patches and mods runs better though.

    I think when people say stuff like this they are talking about walking around in the game, not the benchmark (or they are talking out their @#$%E).

    That is weird spathi as my demo run 97% over 40fps. I think the average was around 50fps but not too sure.

    if i didn't had a 3870 i couldn't be sure...but i know what potential the card has in crysis...and in 1280x1024 on high settings,no aa and running on xp the card isn't capable of more then 30fps average...i don't know how he tested that card..in crysis..

    No way you get that FPS in crysis, or else your HD3870 is faster than my HD4870...
