Let's have some system specs, including motherboard,CPU, ram and type, hard drive, video card , etc, of the computer that would achieve the highest 3D mark 2000 score. Here's the catch- " and RUN STABLE" This should be interesting, and a good place to brag! (please state make and model of mobo)

    Jeff, et all,
does having a good fast H/Drive give better 3d performance? will B/Marks go up?
I have ultra dma 33 and considering upgrading.
Rgds
Mark

I have hit around 6600 3DMarks... but have heard of much higher up around 8000+. My system is a classic athlon (700core) operating at 952 (112 fsb x 8.5). This is on an abit KA7-100 with a geforce GTS II card, and an IBM Deskstar 75GXP drive. I am using 1 stick of mushkin PC133 rev. 2 which is definitely holding me back... wish I bought crucial. This is extremely stable and will not crash.
I think everything contributes to higher scores... including operating system. I would say go for the hottest new tbird proccy... 1.2Ghz and overclock it, pick up that new MSI PRO II mobo and run as high of an fsb possible. 512MG of crucial PC133 ram, throw in a GTS ultra, and of course RAID 0 setup with 7200+ RPM drives.. even though I don't think hard drives matter for 3D MARKS. Just tune it all and get it to work great... easy 8000+ marks. I think the DDR boards would work better... but they aren't really out yet.
------------------
-4.6

Thanks for the info. I'm aleady getting nearly 8,800 or so, if it wasn't for DX8 I'd be getting 9,000 fer sure with DX7 (DX8 reduced it by a few hundred!) Measured at 16 bit 1024*768.
(T'bird 1g at 1.1, Creative Ultra, 256 pc 133 btw)
Rgds
Mark

Do you know if the P4 1.5GHz could come close to AMD's -- assuming all other things remain equal?

There are some comparisons between different processors (Athlon vs Pentium 4) and their 3d mark scores at this site.....
http://www.gamepc.com/reviews/index.asp

you did not mention what drivers you are using for the mx or what resolution you ran the test in. or 16 or 32 bit?

    I got 4947 at 1024x768x16bx16z with a Hercules Prophet II MX on a 900 T-bird (KT7, PC133, CAS2, 4-way interleave). All bone stock, out of the box, using 6.35 drivers. It's tweak-time!
BM

P3- 850 ,256 mb. PC100 sdram (case 3), not O'ced, 32 mb. geforce 2 gts @ 220/370, 5400 rpm HD, tweaked for fast settings w/ GTU, 3d mark 2000 score @ 640x480x16 bit=7070, 1024x768x16 bit=6497 the Anti-aliasing cuts down performance too much to use ,but when I set my mipmaps to best quality the graphics are great and I only loose 62 points @ 1024x768. I dont use 32 bit color because I dont see enough difference to justify the peformance loss.
