That "ROOM" is reverb and using it with DH may be a bit much.
You can use DH without using any of the environmental effect.

Yes, because they are using the same basic chipset and base drivers.

So since I own the Barracuda,it wouldn't do me any good to buy an asus or azuentech sound card.

It would do you more good if your want the improve audio quailty and the dip-8 socket or the features of the Auzentech or Asus card.

    Xonar D2X or the new X-Meridan 2G

This is a question I'd really like peoples opinions on since im really stuck between a rock and a hard place in deciding which card I should get.

At first I was seriously thinking of the X-Meridan, and still am, but now, with the D2X in a similar price range and with the Burr-Brown DAC PCM1792A, which I'm not knocking the DAC AK4396 which the Meridan has, I just heard that Burr Brown made the best of the best. Though I'm confused as the X-Meridan would have more modern components and was wondering if that would make it perform better than the D2X.

Also I am aware the both cards have things the others do not, i.e the D2X doesnt have front panel audio and also i don't think the OPAMPS are swappable, while the X-Meridan is, and the D2X being Pciex while the meridan is not etc..

All I really really need is personal opinions between the two sound cards in terms of sound quality since I want to make a purchase soon. Would I get a better experience with the D2X? Or with the X-Meridan + upgraded OPAMPS? I know that "They are both good sounding cards" This I accept, but When these two options are there, I beleive there is a difference.

If you were a hardcore audiophile, which one would you pick?

The X-merdian 2G because of the op-amp sockets.

ok fair enough. So you're saying that the meridian will sound better when you upgrade the opamps. but let's say you couldn't change them. Which one would sound better straight out is the box? or would it seriously to close to call?

Then that cause it be the cheapest of the Two then.

But all it takes is a bios remover tool or a butter knife and lift straight up and they pop out with ease. THen make sure you install them in and done.

okay so from what you're saying you'd pick the cheapest one out of the two since the audio quality is on par with eachother?

I do however knew how to exchange the opamps, so that's not my issue. but I appreciate your tip.

I might just need to bite the bullet and just pick on the one that appeals on the minute features, such as driver support, front panel support, and software inclutions.
