Hi, i need a soundcard, my audigy is making strange clicks, tested in both pcis (my motherboard have only two and they are near the corsair power supply ) and tested lots of drivers.
My first option was a xonar d2x pci-e, but i read about that new x-meridian and im a bit confused right now.
I like that the xonar have a emi shield, and pci-e conection but i dont know if both things really mather on sound quality.
Thanks, sorry for my english and happy new year!!!

when exactly is your card making the clicks?...if it makes them when you enter windows then i think it's normal, the xonar d2x also makes them,

btw if you don't have good quality speakers i don't think it matters what card you get just take the cheapest one of the two which i think is the d2x.

if you do have nice quality speakers then i think you should get the x-meridian because it's newer and probably has better quality components and sounds better... but best is to wait for robscix and see what he has to say, he tested both cards

AFAIK, Audigy cards don't click. That is not normal.
Anyway, if you are planning on a new card wait for the review of the XM 2g if it interests you. Should be around here soon.:)

Thanks for the replies, clicks sound everitime, i have a good pair of altec landsing 2.1, the main purpose of the card is gaming, and music on second place. Can u give me a quick advice from your experience on both ROBSCIX?
I wish i could wait for your review, but cant, here the tradition is to open the gifts January 6, and its a gift from my girlfriend, the card must be at home before that day.

EDIT: I have just ordered the auzentech. :giggle2:
A friend told me that if the card is a "redesign" of the old x meridian, then the card could be better than the XONAR, so i followed his advice (i hope we was right).
Now i really really want to read your review!!!

Then if theres no more opinions i will end buying the xonar.
    Dont worry ROBSCIX, thanks!!

I dont know what that 7.7 virual unless you meant 7.1 Dolby prologic Iix if so then year. That what I was trying out recently. Also when you use Dolby headphones try out each DH mode and find one that sound good to your ears in games. DH3 adds alot of reverb. while Dh2 has less and DH1 mode has none.

Make sure you disable all of that exepect Xear3D when you move back to your speakers and set it back to 5.1.

Ahh, sorry but Anubi is correct when he says 7.1 Virtual, It's not Dolby prologic...

Woops I was thinking of the wrong one. it was 7.1 Virtual shifter which I meant to say and not Dolby prologic IIx.

Ok, just been fiddling around with it and try these settings, go into effect and set environment to ROOM, then click more options, once you hear it you'll know what I mean, and try DH3 without 7.1 virtual, awesome headphone mixing :)

I have the X-Meridian 2G and the Xonar Xense. Both are very good cards and both have a Virtual Speaker shifter feature that works with ANY speaker set up. Including 5.1 analog. I have no idea how it works but it does. In my opinion however, the Xonar Speaker Shifter does a better job of 7.1 emulation. Maybe when ROBSCIX has finished his testing,he can tell us how the 7.1 shifter works and which of the two cards is better for surround sound etc. Keep in mind that the Xense ships with headphones so you will get them whether or not you want them or need them.

Both cards are running the exact same chipset, the CM 8788 so the 7.1 speaker shifter would be exactly the same but you might be hearing differences from the rest of the hardware such as the DAC's.

I don't know a damn thing about souncard hardware but I would like to know what the DAC's do and whether or not you can fine tune them? Is there a 'best' way to set up or fine tune a sound card? Thanks ROBSCIX.

Read on of my soundcard reviews they explain quite a bit about card layout and hardware used.
a DAC is a fixed chip so it cannot be tuned itself. There are other aspect you can tune that directly affect the DAC such as timing. However, if you don't really know what a DAC is most of the circuit modifications would be out of your league until you get some experience under your belt.

Awesome compared to what? I hope your not comparing it to onboard sound..Any sound card blow that away.

The Speaker shifter feature is found on both the X-Meridian and the Xonar. It will work on ANY speaker set up that includes desk top 5.1 analog. If you are using 5,1 desk tops, set the sound card to 5.1 then click on 8 audio channels and then click on 7.1 Virtual. Check the Windows play back devices and you will see the speakers are at 7.1 even though you have 5.1 selected in the sound card. I hope I explained that O.K. I have no idea how the hell it works with analog, but it does. Have fun with that new toy.

I love my ASUS Xonar D2 7.1. I use a Sennheiser headset, and the dolby headphone 7.1 mode sounds AMAZING. Aso the game/movie/music mode is very easy to change, and works every time.

The drivers came a long with for Win7 64 bit. Great Rich sounding card. I highly recommend it.
