    HI all!

i have an old G80 card, 8800 GTS 640MB, this card is running all games , including Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2 with AO and all maxed out on my system... 6320 @ 3.4 GHZ , 4 GB DDR2 700 MHZ ( 3.4.4.4-4 ) on p5n-e SLI

The problem is...stay with my card and get other 8800 GTS 640 MB for 500,00 ( PRICE ON BRAZIL ).
Or get one of this options:

    2 GTS 250 on SLI ( all cards have 512 MB ). R$ 519,00 X 2
    2 9800 GT on SLI ( all cards have 1 GB ) R$ 450,00 X2
    1 HD4890 1GB ( im losing physx on my games :( ). R$ 980,00
    2 8800 GT on SLI ( all cards have 512MB ) R$ 390,00 X2
    2 8800 GTS on SLI ( all cards have 512MB ) R$ 450,00 X2

THE PROBLEM : MY MOBO ONLY DO SLI WITH 8X8 on PCI-E and they are PCI-E 1.0 ( on BIOS im put the double of frequency - overclock ).

OR GET ONLY ONE CARD, like GTX 260 for R$ 849,00

    plz help on choice

Well if I had a GTS, I'd add a second or get 2 250's in SLI.

    Edit: OR 2 4890's like I have? Beats a GTX 295.

mate just go with 1 card GTX260 or a GTX275 because from what i understand not even the GTX285 uses all 16lanes and on the upside u dont get SLI problems

Yes, im looking for GTX260 or GTX285, but, the performance is only on clocks, the bits and memory is too small difference....i love ATI, but love my Physx games, the effects is soo beautyfull ( ok, work english ).
Im see, at the same price HD4850x2, this card is good ???

The GTS250 is an good card, but, my modo dont do SLI x16 and x8, they only have x8 and x8...but. im double the frequency of pci-e controller, without any problem, this can improve the transfer rate of vga ???? or dont do nothing ?
I love SLI, my first is 8600GT on SLI, with this modded cards i get more performance than 8800 GTS320, but, i lose one card ( they go on fire = 98° )...

I have filtred my options, now, what you choice ?
    Other 8800 GTS 640 MB, on clocks: 650/1520/1100 ( 46° )
Two 9800 GT with 1 GB on SLI ( 2 GB on TOTAL )...with special cooler from Zallman.
    Or get 2 GTS250 ( same card from 9800GTX+,same from 9800, and same from 8800GTS 512 )...( 1 GB on TOTAL ).

I going to play on FULL HD PHILIPS 1080p and want put 4x antialiasing... more memory solve slowdown problems caused by excess of filtering ?

    THX

    BAD ENGLISH, I KNOW....

Good idea, one card for me, on GPU-Z im get more bandwith than others recent cards, the 320 bits is more powerfull than 256 bits, 256 bits is an minimum for only gaming, and, my plan is play on 1080p HDTV PHILIPS AMBILIGHT, excelent television...
On total of bits i have 640, more than actual cards, all have 512... all my games are played with 2x antialiasing, like Crysis, others im use 4 or 8x, like Unreal 3....
On all games i dont get low frames than 30/40...with one card, my plan is play on 50/60...
My cards can run DX11 ??? if yes, im getting other now, and save money for 8GB DDR2 1066 MHZ... from Kingston ( original ).
If any DX 10 or 10.1 card cant handle DX11 with features and great speed, im going to take other card only on dezember...

no card available now can do true dx11. they can run dx11 games just because dx11 is backwards compatible but you wont be able to enable the True features of DX11. if you want dx11 then wait for the g300 series. maybe dx 11 will be implemented there. but anyways IMO we wont see a TRUE DX11 game in a long time. just like what happened with dx10.

Which resolution you game at ? 512Mb is problem at something like 1920*1200, but since 8800GTS 640mb can handle Warhead well, are you gaming at 1280*1024 ?

512Mb vram should be enough at 1280*1024.

You can get GTS250 1gb is your worrying about that vram, or just GTX260 C216 / GTX275 1792Mb

    Good Evening My friend elecg2.
In my opinion Don't mess up with SLI now.If you want an SLIsystem you need a very powerfull CPU to support it.

Look For a GTX260 core 216 or a GTX275.It will do the work Just fine.

GTS250 dont worth the money..because with a few $ more you can take GTX260 or Even GTX275.

Remember that is very important in wich resolutions you play.

But the Vram of GTX260+275 is 896 MB.THey can support any available game in the fact of resolutions.

    Now lets talk about ATI.
The new ATI 4890 is a great Card.A lot Of Horsepower.
In all the test's we see that HD 4890 and GTX 275 are similar in performance.
In some cases the GTX275 beats up 4890(crysis,far cry 2,Mass Effect))
    And in some cases 4890 beats up GTX275(Call of Duty:world at war,Fall out 3,Tom Clancy's HAWX)here 4890 beat's up even GTX285(fall out 3).

The two Video cards are Great. They are similar to price and performance.

In most cases i prefer NVIDIA cards. But as you see ATI managed to Bring Some Great Cards.

The choise is Yours.I dont want to Tell ppl to GO with NVIDIA or ATI just because i like it.You must choose with your own mind.

I would go with GTX275 if you ask me Because of Physx.Directx 10.1 have nothing to saw us until now.

    :D

I hope i helped you to clean up your mind a little.

You are sayn that based on SLI on PCI-E x16/8x or 8x/8x
Remember... im have overclocked my PCI-E to double of MHZ.

My CPU are overclocked to 3.4 GHZ ( an Core2Duo 6320 ) , thats awesome for an Core2Duo 6320, i dont want put more because im fear lose settings.
The FSB are running on 2.0 GHZ, and the frequency is the original + 0.2v...very stable, dont do any problems, and cool with stock cooler.
My actual resolution is 1440x900, but, on all games im put AO ,AA, Anyso.
    AO on MAX.
AA on 2x ( Crysis XXXXXX ) and 4x or 8xQ on others...
    Anyso 16x
Im thinking the GTX 260 have the same problem compared the old 8800 GTS320... an card all people have, and the limit for future gaming...
Actualy im playing on 1440x900, but, on 3 moths im buying an HDTV LCD FULLHD...excelent television, 5MS, HD MOTION, direct connection from PC and HDMI...

The problem is price on Brazil, im have now R$ 1500,00
If im get an card similar to GTX260 or GTX275 im need buy other PSU...because im have 4 HDS on RAID0...all combined...excelent speed, im dont see loading on 90% of my games. If im get other GTS640 and do the same overclock of my the rest of money is R$1000,00 and is possible to buy other PSU and put 8 GB DDR2 800/1066 MHZ...
Or stay with memory, get PSU,VGA and Q6600...

Im playing on 1440x900 with all possible filters and VSYNC, my minimum frame on Warhead is 28...and max of 37/38, all maxed out and texture mod...
Im worrying about mem, yes its true, because im only play games on PC with all filters enabled, if an game cant let me do that, im simple unistal, i like perfect image!Because of that my GTA 4 is on my dog house...let they eat...horrible game, horible image and texture, dont let put 0,02 antialising...

What OS are you running? if still XP and you love ATI then go with the ATI card (4890) and have your old 8800 for the PhysX.

9800GT = 8800GT....go with the GTX260...better performance, and no worries about SLI problems.

Dont get anything less of a GTX 260 (216 core), even if you cant get another one right away you could get another one for SLI. It shld still run a 8x by 8x. Even then you cld upgrade your mobo and then get a second card.

My recomendation would definatly be a GTX 275. Very powerful card and you can get 1.7 Gb or vram on it. Plus it would be killer in SLI or 3 way SLI if you upgraded, which you will prolly have to do because the rest of your system might limit your GPUs cause your GPUs could be the most powerful part of your system and you CPU and RAM might not be able to keep up.

Cheers m8, hope im of some help
