Why would you buy an uber machine and get an EVGA 6600?

I would just jump up the ladder and buy a 6800 Ultra PCI-e if you really wanted raw power.

    Nice machine... can't help you...

Have you let your CPU "burn" in yet? I know I couldn't overclock my CPU for a few months... after that I can get it pretty high.

You might be able to hit 5Ghz with this? Have you asked ASUS some questions about this Mb?

I know they've built it for extreme overclocking, maybe they have some ideas...

Have you tried giving your CPU more juice?

    whats holding u back?

is it the cpu or ram that gets unstable?

increase ur FSB by a couple of mhz so it becomes unstable then run prime 95 on the mostly cpu then the mostly ram test.

that should hlep u tell which is failing.

personally i would give the ram more juice, 2.2 isnt much.

Your 3dmark01 seems extremely low for ur cpu running at those kind of speeds...(3dmark01 is extremely cpu dependent)

What are your cpu scores for 3dmark03, 05, pcmark, etc?

That's because NVIDIA has no optimizations for 3DMark01SE nowdays.

you will not hit 5ghz with just water cooling mate you really need a phase changer

i see your multiplier is @ 14 meaning you have a presscott that you can lower Multy. How hi can u oc w/ multy @ stock? If your ram is what is holding you back you can change the ratio and see if cpu can make it to 5ghz

stormrayne i read in your specs that you had a VAPOCHELL LS.. which is phase change cooling.. is that correct and i am wondering what temps you are at?

sorry didnt see that you had ur vapochill my mistake.,.....shouldnt have a problem hitting mid 4ghz but still 5ghz is really pusing it.

i ran speedfan the cpu temp -16c at full load -5c
the vapochill ls is hold at -45c at full load its -37c
control panel is set at 35% heater/ the compressor is 80%
    the fans are 75%.

Yes i change the ratio to 1:1 and try 3:4, 267x18 with 1:1 stable 4.8ghz,
so 3:4 stock i try 280x18 5.040ghz but only system boot, not win xp would not boot, i think i'm hiving memory timing problems.
5ghz is to fast for win xp,
when the system boot up it report that mem is 1050mz ddr2 at 5.04ghz/510mz and at 4.8ghz it says 905.6mz /thats 452.6mz x2

now this setting are with the vcore set at 1.68v to 1.75v its the only way
    that the system boot up.

i've been reading alot of theard, about fatal1ty and p4 560 i seen people
hit 5ghz with the vapochill LS. and very stable and also using corsair xms2-5400c4pro led 2v1.1 and idea ???

@ 3:4 mem it is higher than your fsb, should set it @ 4:3 or 5:4 so ram is slower than fsb while maintaining cpu oc. GL. BTW if it were stable it would boot into windows even if it was more than 5 Ghz. Windows will indeed boot @ 5 ghz
