    hi,
    I would like to know if there is a way to get my gpu to send the video to my tv (which only have hdmi) and the audio the my av receiver (which can only handle 1080p) ?

    I would like to keep the 4k on the tv that is why I dont do:
    gpu -> avr -> tv

    Any way to do ?:
    gpu -> avr (hd audio)
    -> tv (4k video)

    I tried a simple cable 1 hdmi (M) to 2 hdmi (F) but it didnt work, my computer would either work (detect) with the tv or av receiver not both.

    I dont plan to upgrade my avr (HK-260 and there is no passtrough/arc) yet.

    If you only need to output audio to your av receiver you can do that with your sound card (or integrated sound chip).

    Connect the sound card output to your av receiver and select the sound card as default playback device (rather than HDMI via GPU).

    Also if you have two HDMI outputs in your graphics card you should be able to connect with two HDMI cables (one to TV, other to AV).
    Select the output connected to your receiver as default audio device instead of the one connected to the TV in Windows audio settings.

    ^ how about you connect to TV from DVI with a DVI - HDMI converter and then the HDMI is left for AV (or vice versa). That should work.

    Yea you can't plug one to the other, only the primary card handles outputs.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I was thinking about something, cant I use a display port to hdmi adapter to connect my tv to my GPU (already got a monitor connected to display port for gsync) and also get sound to my tv ?

    (this will also allow me to connect my GPU hdmi to my receiver)

    so it would be something like this:

    GTX970 - hdmi to receiver (to get hd audio)
    - display port to monitor (for gsync)
    - other displayport with displayport to hdmi adapter to my tv (for 4k@60hz and audio to tv)

    ^ or that yes if you don't have DVI connectors, DP to HDMI should work too.

    It may be best to use the adapter with the receiver (as it needs only audio), experiment.

    np!

    Question: you said you already have two devices connected (monitor and TV).

    Can you switch audio to the other device while keeping the display on the other without issues atm?
    It just occurred to me that this may be a problem so try that before ordering the adapter (using one device, ie GPU, to split audio and video to separate outputs).

    I have one tv on hdmi and one monitor (without HP) on displayport for gsync.
    During some test I use to have the receiver being treated as a monitor that i was hiding out of view (cause i only wanted sound).

    ill use the receiver as monitor for the sound but ill only display on the monitor and tv.
