help building a pc

    ok heres the deal I have a friend that has around $700canadian and he wants a pc. I told him it wouldnt get him much but then again I know very little about computers lol...he doesnt wanna go the ebay route...he wants to buy from a local vendor or buy a complete pc from newegg or something. Ive been lookin around for a couple days but im no good at this because I have no idea how good a 8600gt is lol..SO I need help fellow gurus :)

    ha, thanks man lol im pretty new here to. The only thread im usualy on is the games cheats and mods thread and the pub lol...sorry for the inconvience if I wasnt suppose to post this! doh!

    I got all my parts for $600 and you can get cheaper than that now. He won't get a top end, but a pretty decent one is possible.

    What exactly does your friend need? Does he just need the basics like a (motherboard, RAM, CPU, and video card) or does he need everything (mobo, cpu, cpu cooler, ram, hard drive, sound card, video card, dvd/cd drive, case, etc...)?
