It's like some of you are masochists.

Universal healthcare in the 21st century should be a right, not a privilege, in first world countries. Same goes for basic education and not starving.

    http://youtu.be/QPKKQnijnsM

The reason you are in debt is because you spend (what is estimated now to cost) $6 Trillion on two wars and ten times over the rest of the world combined on your military. It's because of a complete mismanagement of your wealth equality. It's not because some worker who broke his leg riding to work needs an operation.

I mean, the fact that your military can cry about Chinese threats is almost downright treasonous considering the military budgets involved:

yep, we don't need a big military. I hope all you people that think america is evil/bad are ready for a world where we are not the preeminent superpower. It's going to be rough. but i'm sure china/russia/islam will be fair and treat you well.

fyi chillin, your country will be the first to go, but you know that.

I'm fine with that, our military is starting to get fat as it is and I don't want it to wind up in the MIC cycle as America did. In any case, the important joint programs will continue after; like the Arrow 3, EW, etc.

The biggest losers will be Europe and other Asian countries. South Korea costs the U.S. between $15-42 Billion USD a year in defense, not to mention equipment and manpower costs to the U.S..

Give me a break most of the major costs aren't your doctor's it's the companies that own the hospitals and clinics operating on a for profit basis looking for any little thing to charge you extra. You are so afraid of universal health care you are willing to pay exorbitant health insurance rates to avoid it. Our doctor's might make a little less here on average but I guess they can settle for a Mercedes over a Ferrari.

You're forgetting USAFE. Today it costs the U.S. $3.77 Billion dollars a year; and that's already after the major draw-down that happened after the end of the Cold War.

That's not going anywhere near what the U.S. Naval Fleets (especially submarine fleets) afforded the U.K. during the Cold War.

you get what you pay for. i'll take my expensive and smart dr over your free and average. If they were any good at their job they would be here anyways, like the majority of other top tier professionals.
    you enjoy that "free" healthcare.

I never understood why they are stationed here, if Russia had attacked during the cold war it would be the RAF bombers to retaliate now handed over to the submarine class and whatever comes next

America should save themselves the cash

Well that is pretty much silly. At least europe is leading in many areas of healthcare. We got some leading doctors too in their specified field and good doctors in general. Why would free healthcare somehow make doctors worse is beyond me :D

That's bullsh!t of the first degree and is not even backed up by facts:

    Read up:

The reason that there isn't Universal Healthcare, despite spending more on healthcare per GDP, in the United States is because of backwards thinking people like you that are terrified of anything with the word "Socialist" in it.

Go ahead, here is another survey:

I have to say, I honestly didn't think people like you existed. It's no wonder this country is so unbelievably ****ed up.

America **** YEA right? You need to take a look around the world, we aren't as great as we once were and pretending we are only makes the problem worse.

We have some of the best doctors and research people in the world and our health care isn't free just more equitably spread out cost wise. This lowers the cost overall for the regular people. We have many flaws in our system that need fixing but it doesn't cost me 300 bucks to go get stitches.Nice to see you are perpetuating the stereotype American attitude the world loves so much.

And the problem is that there is no reason for a lot of it.

You are spending a friggin 17.4% of GDP on healthcare, over twice the OECD average. There is no practical reason in the world that you guys are not able to institute a working Universal Healthcare system that is the best in the world at that rate. The Israeli system came into being fully only 16 years ago; America can institute a working system as well if it had the political will to do so that would put the rest of the world to shame.

A opinion based on no facts what so ever.

There's plenty of stories about negligence and malpractice from your "doctors for profit" all over the interwebs.

Either way, our healthcare isn't free. We pay what is called "national insurance" out of our wages which is a calculated percentage of earnings that everyone in the country has to pay.

Regardless, you're in no position to attack anyones healthcare system according to the world health organisation's rankings.

    18 United Kingdom
    37 USA

I'll take my (alleged by you) average doctors over your dollar signs in their eyes doctors who let people die on the streets because they have no money.

Because that same person will pay for you when you break your leg riding your bike... or tripping over a stair.

Universal Healthcare is a system that has been proven to work, and for a lower rate than you are currently paying, period. Why the hell are you so against a system that has been proven to work cheaper, better and universally?

Sigh you must be Brasky's neighbor. If you would look beyond the end of your nose and Republican obstructionist misinformation you would see you can come up with a plan that works if you work together rather than reject and stall just because it didn't come from your side of the aisle.Properly implemented the theory is sound more people insured less cost to the individual that is how insurance works.

No country has a perfect health care system, but it just amazes me how little some "Americans" value life.... Anyone that thinks the "old system" was so great, has obviously never known anyone with one of the blacklisted medical conditions... If the old health care system in the US was so great, people wouldn't lose health insurance over a medical condition they have no control over. The US Constitution guarantees equal rights to all people...so why is it that only healthy people have ever had the right to have health insurance? "Obamacare" (which coincidentally was originally drafted by Republicans as a state run health insurance system) makes it a right of all US citizens to have equal access to health insurance and health care, regardless of their medical history. Why exactly is that such a bad thing?

My health insurance....just for myself and my son, is $508 per month. My wife currently has no health insurance because it would cost us $1296 per month to cover all 3 of us.

You're talking about doing something that would require all of our political parties to actually agree on something.....which hasn't happened since Bill Clinton was in office... Since 1988, 3 Presidents have tried to get health care reform passed....but at no time could any bill be agreed. Republicans only want health care reform with a Republican president and Democrats with a Democrat as President....which is ****ing STUPID..... It shouldn't matter which party is sitting where. The good of the country is still the good of the country.
