    Hello guys,

I bought a sapphire hd 7970 oc dual-x 3gb one month ago. Everthing worked like a charm. Today, when i was playing a game, the game freezed and i only see little blocks (boxes) and strange icons al over the screen. So i reset the pc, on the start before the Windows sign appears (like before the bios information appears), i get these strange icons again and i can not see anything.

I even cannot start the pc on safe mode.

Is the videocard already dead? is this a driver issue? i know its the card issue, because switching from hd7970 to onboard videocard, wil solve the problem, switch it back to 7970 again, i get the same problem.

I have also attached a screenshot of the problem:

    Please guys, help me out.

    Thanks in advanced.

    Regards,

If it only happens once you boot into windows, I would boot into safe mode and remove the driver, then reboot, reinstall, and see if it clears up.

That is my problem, this al happens (what you see on the screenshot) before reaching the menu where you can choose for safe-mode for instance.

    this is getting ridiculous....

seems either people have issues from day 1....or they pop up after a month or so. Really making me want to get rid of my 7870....

Could be either really. Hard to know without one of the board partners stepping up and saying something.

I am thinking switching to gtx680 because of these problems with 7970, thats a shame because 7970 is an excellent performer.

There are ALWAYS going to be DOA cards and faulty cards. This is the sensitive nature of complex electronic equipment. It is impossible for them to ensure every card will function 100% always. There are so many different variables to factor in as well. Some people treat their hardware poorly and do stupid ****, UPS sometimes damages hardware in the mail, sometimes a tiny fault in a gpu or memory chip won't show up on tests until later down the road, so on, and so on.

Of course you are upset because you are affected by a faulty card. If you have issues with your card you should send it back or return it.
