Good to see you back mate
Thx very much, nice to be here..
When I first saw one of my posts after my account was banned, I thought for a second I had a new custom title..lol
lol, we said that with XDR2 memory a 384bit interface would be 'unnecessary'.
Oh and glad you're unbanned
Ah, was that what it was... just blame my selective memory..
Kinda sucks about Hunter tho...anyway - back OT.
He was my favorite little guy
Yeah, yeah lol.
Hoping that was just the translation from German, but did it say the 7950 was behind the GTX580, or did it just mean behind the 7970, though that does seem a rather obvious thing to say.
Hoping this is wrong, as I would only get a 7970 if it was 30-50% faster than a GTX580, just not worth my while if it’s only going to be a little bit faster than a 580.
While it’s not good for progression, bringing out something that is just a small amount faster than the competition is good for profits, especially when they know Nvidia won’t have anything out anytime soon.
Humm, seems the new 7000 series aren't all that great if they can't clearly beat the 580 by a reasonable margin.
Mind sharing where you saw the performance figures?
+1 , agree with your question 100% , i would like to know too !
7970 barely beats 580gtx? This is not true.
Why would they release such gpu in the first place?
7970 will be at least 6990 performance (+10-20% more)
more info about 7950, 7970
I don´t find hard to believe that the new GPUs will only marginally faster than the GTX580.
If I remember correctly, the new architecture is aimed for HTPC performance, just like Fermi, so it´s possible that the gains in gaming won´t be that great.
Still, only benches will tell for sure if this is the case or if the new cards will excel in gaming, just like we want them to.
Look, they are going to be faster than the 580, I think that's a given, but I have a feeling you people who are claiming 6990 (and beyond) performance are going to be sorely disappointed.
agreed anyone who thinks they are that fast...well i have some ocean front property here in ill. to sell ya real cheap!
I am still left puzzling again if i do get a new card on whether it is worth with my system or not. Now that the new ones are coming out i have $300 to waste so i might just go for one of the new models. Even if it is limited by the rest of the system.
What I wonder is bottleneck problem. If its not an another fail for amd, hd 7 series will be much more powerful than hd 6x. Even current cpu's can cause a bottleneck with slı or crossfire high end system. So wouldn't it like using hd 6990 with pentium dual core if you used hd 7990 crossfire with core i7 system?
I wouldn't believe anything, as you know how good AMD are at keeping secrets, and i wouldn't bet against all these rumours being AMD generated, as they do like to release fake info, did a cracking job with the 4 series, no one saw them coming.
AFAIK AMD marketing department is generating nothing because they where all fired a month ago.
That team was pure garbage.
All they did was releasing crazy interviews about BAD APU, BAD DirectX,
and twitteed some Borat style statements like: We Number 1.
All the while Nvidia marketing was killing them with post GTX 460 cards,
aka Sniper, Hunter, Titanium, and the latest pun with 448
Nvidia video cards are pure ****! Why you think they are killing them? With what?
