HBAO+ Compatibility Flags Thread

    Can anyone else test HBAO+ for FFXIV using the benchmark for me with the latest drivers? I dont' know if it's Maxwell specific, but it seems like someone has gimped us or broke it when they added the DX11 profile.


    EX. Prior, 102B created basically perfect HBAO+. So upon resubscribing to the game, and enabling it at first it didn't work. So of course reboot try again. And it's working, but something is wrong. AO is only being applied to hair, and there are massive slowdowns typical of a non-working AO flag.

    So I tried Transparent Low and 1F and it is working just fine. With Tr.Normal it has the see through effect from prior

    So for ****s, I tried 2B by itself with Transparent Normal and UNLIKE prior it is now applying the same see through effect as 1F with Tr.Normal and provides Character AO only with Tr.Low


    At first I thought "Ok, maybe a game update broke it" So I tried the benchmark/character creator. And low and behold same issue.


    So i'm thinking something happened driver side.. or HBAO+ can change per GPU???:3eyes:

    Also i'd like to let people know about the video links in the OP.

    I don't know what the **** is going on. Over the last several months i've been getting constant takedown notices on tons of stuff I upload on MEGA, never ONCE have I been allowed to see what the file that has been flagged and taken down actually is. I don't upload any commercial product or illegal content which has had me puzzled. Then a few weeks, I got an email in my Spam folder telling me my account had been suspended due to being a repeat offender.:3eyes: So I emailed them back at the provided legal email address. No reply. And today I get another takedown notice. Which I thought was odd. How could I get another takedown if my account was suspended?

    I tried accessing some of the links in the OP from MEGA and even just entering Mega.co.nz in my browser. I just get a blank screen. I wonder if I have been IP banned or something?? I don't understand... Can anyone access the links in the OP for stuff from MEGA?

    Update. It's working (for DEIW too!) but there's the damn bleeding through particle effects (smokes, flames, etc) :p

    Any updates on AC Rogue? In game HBAO is just weak. HBAO+ would make a nice difference.

    *sigh* I have no idea what the heck is going on with this. I only ever shared personal files with MEGA and gameplay footage for certain issues with games.

    There are somethings on there that I don't have the files for anymore. ( I do have HBAO+ backup videos but still). I am unable to access MEGA for anything.:3eyes:

    This is the flag I am using 0x0001001F and Its working for me. Adding the ingame AO as well makes everything even darker too. I have no slow down at all.

    Are you using Transparent lighting normal or high?

    It seems the ingame AO in Unreal Tournament Pre-Alpha is highly customizable regarding both quality, strength and range :)

    If only we had this level of control over DX11 driver AO.
    I'm beginning to be more and more pessimistic regarding the available driver AO bits, we simply need more functions exposed in DX11.
    Otherwise this will turn into another DX11 AA farce :bang:

    Yes it would be nice. That Deus Ex article is very awesome as well. I'd love if that tool worked for DX9 :p

    It's useful for the Director's cut because the DoF in DX9 in that version is worse in quality than the original game. (Among other effects, like the HDR) So DX11 is the only way to get decent quality. But you have to downsample, which shrinks the UI (Which again makes 0 sense since it's a console game). It also confirms what I thought previously that the Bloom is rendered fractionally proportionate to the resolution used.

    Based on that article, the flag 0x04040000,0x04840000,0x04800000,0x00840000,0x048C0000,0x040C0000,0x008C0000,0x000C0000 or 0x00040000 could theoretically work for HBAO+ in DX11.

    Request! A flag for the good old 2002 Splinter Cell (yes I know there's the Shadow Buffer bug there, and in Pandora Tomorrow too but it's a soooooo seminal title for the stealth subgenre :p )

    DXIW and TDS flag doesn't work here.

    Best looking (IMO) and best performing flag. Has some rare issues with bleeding and flickering underwater, beyond that flickers in one specific location (so far). Other than that works great.

    Interiors:

    No AO

    No AO

    0x0000002C

    EDIT: Found another issue: AO bleeds through fog when using zoom on bigger distance.

    Probably, but you need to "get your hands dirty" and do some work yourself.
    I believe the game has both DX11 and DX9 render paths, so you should be able to find something useful.
