    Oops, my bad :)
Just assumed it was DX11 UE3, like B:AO.

0x00000005, 0x00000017 and 0x00000031 seem to work all right with Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate.

    No HBAO:

Nice work, though I think 0x00000031 gives the best results based on your screenshots. 05 is missing occlusion on many elements, mostly in the foreground (boxes, wooden plank) while 17 seems far too strong for my taste. Cheers mate.

As long as there are no major issues with each> I will post all 3 and let the user decide.

    Thanks.

So I tested the "0x00020023" flag on Bioshock 2 last night. I took lots of screenshots comparing several areas but didn't notice ANY difference. So after messing with it for a while I decided to go back to test the original Bioshock just to make sure it was working correctly in there. Oddly enough it wasn't working in there either. Apparently I was mistaken when I reported that it looked better than the old setting.

I tried using the older flag for Bioshock and that didn't work either. I made sure I was using the "-dx9" launch parameter in Steam to force DirectX 9. I even duplicated GuruKnight's NVIDIA Inspector settings posted earlier and still nothing. I remember SSAO used to work for Bioshock in the older drivers because the effect made edges and corners overly dark.

I doubt it's my hardware/software because the HBAO+ works great in other games like Resident Evil Revelations and The Witcher. Any suggestions?

"0x00020023" definitely works for Bioshock 1.

    No HBAO+

Don't know what to say, "0x00020023" works great for me with 334.89 WHQL driver and the settings included in my full HBAO+ report:
    http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=10162862&postcount=5684

    Btw I tested HBAO+ in Dead Space 1 & 2.
The official profile "0x0000000F" works great for HBAO+ in DS1, but unfortunately causes slowdowns and drops in GPU usage in DS2.
I did find an alternative "0x00000002" for HBAO+ in DS2.
It only applies a very subtle AO effect, but nothing more is possible without AO being applied too strongly and bleeding through smoke etc.

I have included all necessary details in my original "SGSSAA post" from 3DCenter:
    http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=9381557&postcount=2800

Okay before I changed my configs back I decided to test Bioshock again one more time but this time I took screenshots from the same exact area that everybody else did (the bathysphere) and apparently it does work. It's VERY subtle compared to the old SSAO flag but way more natural looking. So now I'll move on to testing Bioshock 2 with the new flag and look for a similar area where I'll be able to spot any differences.

As I already explained several times in this thread, only the "X" variable in AO profiles of the form "0x000X00YZ" will affect how HBAO+ is rendered in DX10 and DX11 mode.
So altering the BioShock profile from "23" to "2D" has zero impact on IQ or performance in DX10 mode ;)

Btw, I found some better HBAO+ options "0x00000016" and "0x00000026" for Dead Space 2.
"0x00000026" applies a stronger AO effect, but also causes light bleeding around the edges of certain light sources.
"0x00000016" is a little more subtle, but causes the AO to bleed through the menu.

Upon further investigation "0x00000002" was not doing more than simply increasing GPU and VRAM usage in DS2.
Sorry for the inconvenience guys :(

Also MrBonk, could you please use my "SGSSAA post" from 3DCenter directly as a reference for both Dead Space and Dead Space 2?

I found some flags for Assassins Creed IV Black Flag
"0x000200XX" "0x000600XX" "0x000900XX" "0x000C00XX" "0x000E00XX" (put any number you want in XX, they all working)

    No AO:

    ingame HBAO (high):
    hxxp://i.imgur.com/t07I8aM.jpg

    "0x000200XX" flag:
    hxxp://i.imgur.com/wjsquxi.jpg

    "0x000600XX" flag:
    hxxp://i.imgur.com/zVPWwT4.jpg

    "0x000900XX" flag:
    hxxp://i.imgur.com/PDIo6KO.jpg

    "0x000C00XX" flag:
    hxxp://i.imgur.com/WaqKHbF.jpg

    "0x000E00XX" flag:

As you can see, hbao flag only working for nearby object, and they can enhance with ingame ao for stronger effect.

    Those links are not working.
Also, it is relatively easy to find a "working" HBAO+ flag in most games.
The trick is to do proper compatibility testing for bleeding issues and so on, and not just post 10 random flags that people have to go through themselves to find out which one is optimal...seriously :bang:

They 'work'. I'm not sure why he changed http to hxxp, but there you go.
