I've got a bit of a hodgepodge PC currently -- my SSD and GPUs are only a year old, but my motherboard and CPU are about 6 years old. I am curious if a new MoBo and a new CPU would help performance on GW2.

It's a bit of a buzz-kill that when I play Guild Wars 2 with two 1080 Ti's in SLi that I still rarely get over 60FPS at 4k.

The Witcher 3 gives me about 100 FPS, so I know MMOs might benefit more from a CPU upgrade.

    For frame of reference:

    Windows 10 - x64

    Intel i7 3930k Sandy Bridge-E @ 4.20GHz

    ASUS Rampage IV Formula

    16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 2133

    2x EVGA GeForce 1080 Ti : SLi

    Samsung 840 EVO

Well .. game stil does not utilize multicore cpus...
So what's best CPU for GW2 for lowest price? i3 8350K (4 cores CPU) and overclock it to 5Ghz.
Do not get Ryzen (2) CPU, it's for some reason much slower in GW2.

You'd benefit from a faster IPC and ram in MMOs. Definitely forger about 8350k, it's rubbish for GW2 and MMOs in general. Something like a 8700k @5ghz would be your best bet, followed by a 7700k @5ghz.

Tell me, how it can be rubbish? that's like saying i5 8400 is rubbish, it's 6 core CPU, but if you overclock 8350K to 5Ghz, it's faster then mine (i5 8400).

Of course 7700K or 8700K is better, but i'm talking about best cheapest option CPU for MMOs.

I run my 8700k only at 4.8 with a 1070 and keep minimum of 80fps at 1440p with everything maxed plus supersampling. worst area is LA in which the 80fps shows. mainly stays around 110-120 fps during exploration

i'd sell that second 1080ti and get a new mobo, ram and cpu, it would probably cover it to be fair.

You have a 6/12core CPU, ID look to overclock it higher(actually I did) :D
