......and it's down. I got to page 14 at least. Cool beans though it is out now. A little nap and I'll check back. Thanks Hilbert and the staff here. :)

Unfortunately, the card is exactly as many predicted. Too hot, too loud, too expensive and ultimately should be considered a bit of a catastrophe.
I bet ATI are absolutely delighted, this is the reason they didn't need to drop the price on their cards today.

I'm not impressed-at all. For a measly few percentage points more performance in some games, you get a card that you can cook your steak on while playing BF2BC. And it's more expensive than than its direct competition.

Darnit, looks like I'm skipping this round of the GPU wars. I'll wait until ATI's next cards hit before upgrading. Nvidia dropped the ball on this one-big time.

Well Hilbert gave the title of fastest single gpu to the 480. finally a review I can believe. It looks like nvidia is going to come out ok. Which is a very good thing for everyone. Now ati needs to either call them or raise them. This is going to be a great year.

    i agree, 94C STOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

performance is okish, if the max temps at stock were around 64C and there was some headroom for overclocking they would be decent enough cards.

I have dual 5870's Stacked rite on top of each other. If I don't manually set the fans to run at over 50% I get high temps. If I leave the fans on stock speeds I can hit 91 degrees(on main card) in dirt 2 easy. I usually set my fans at 63% when I game and my temps stay in the high sixties.

The Guru3d review is the only one that "seems" to be singing the praises of the GTX470/480 out of most of the review sites. Most of them seem to agree it's a bit of a flop price/performance wise

A more cynical poster might wonder why Guru3d are praising the cards so much...

    Just a thought.

yeah based on everything that happened, the delays, and then the power consumption and the temps are absolutely crazy

Other than that, good review though, great seeing so many benchies.

I almost spat my coffee out when i read this:-

"NVIDIA regains the performance crown and is back in the saddle like a cowboy after a harsh shootout, riding its horse into the sunset."

Sorry Hilbert but for once, i strongly disagree with you - as do MANY other review sites on the internet.
