    Hey,

I have 3 xfx geforce 250 gts cards but when i try to use them in SLI it doesnt work. The cards work fine as individuals, it's only when SLI is in use my PC freezes and becomes unstable. I have all the latest drivers for all my components, but it makes no difference. Some of my games i can't even play, and at the moment i'm having to use only one card because two or three seem to mess up my PC. Please help!

    Welcome to Guru3D, SamPepper. :)

Is each of the cards working fine by itself in all three slots?

Try one card in all three PCIe slots by itself to make sure the slots are working.

After that try each GTS250 in the primary slot to make sure each card is working, too.

Besides that you can try updating the motherboard BIOS, a different SLI bridge, etc.

Yeah all the PCI slots work fine, and all the cards do to. I have a few SLI bridges and when i try them it's always the same thing and iv'e got the latest bios and drivers for my motherboard. I've been through many different possibilities as to what it could be with the website i bouht them from, but they said i should ask someone on guru 3D. I've been having this problem for ages and i've tried so many different thing, i don't know what to do. But as i say i'm possitive the PCI slots are working and all the cards do too.

    Nice. :D

Did you try running just two cards in SLI, too?

    (In various combinations?)

Worse? So SLI isn't working with just two cards either?

Well i say worse, it seems to work for about a minute or so but my computer freezes after then. Even while it's working it's very jumpy and unstable.

At this point all you can really do (You did try a clean OS installation and different driver sets already, didn't you?) is try a different PSU or motherboard.

Try the cards in a friend's PC for example who has a SLI capable motherboard and try them in various configurations on his board. Maybe a store can do this for you alternatively (for a little charge most likely though).

I have a suspicion it's the motherboard, but only real testing with different hardware can help you now, I'm afraid.

You could try three different triple SLI capable cards on your motherboard to see if the board works with them, try a different PSU or a different motherboard.

So how's the SLI situation as of today? Are most games getting SLI support and working relatively well? (like 1.5x to 1.75x performance?)

I just ordered a new GTX 260 to go through 2010 with SLI and getting a new single card way later.

    What can I expect?

I was looking at either upgrading by adding another 9800gt to sli or to either add a gts 250 so I would have a 9800gt as Phsyx. Does any one have any idea which one preforms better and could they show some benchmarks if possible because I think that 9800gt sli would preform better as long as the program properly supports sli.
