I recently got a SSD (Samsung 840) and put Win8.1 on it. I was previously running Win7 and everything was fine. As it currently stands, Windows will hang and eventually reboot at least once per day, likely more often. So far it has always happened while browsing the net. It does *not* happen while playing games, even 3D-intensive ones. Exactly once I got the "the driver has recovered" balloon and it managed to continue for about half an hour with Firefox's tab buttons looking all weird before another crash took it down. Every other time it just reboots. I'm perfectly OK with downgrading drivers if this will stop the crashing. I'm currently running 331.82.
331.93 has fixes for this issue: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...n8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-beta.exe
You shouldn't have to disable HWXL in Firefox with the 331.93 drivers. I have the same card and don't have any problems.
i have nearly the same system as yours and i use 331.93 (had to do a clean install for it to work properly) hardware acc enabled in firefox and 0 issues now on win 8.1 pro x64
You could also try using the latest Quadro drivers. I have been using them since past few days and not once had an issue with Windows hanging, unlike the recent Geforce drivers. You can download the modified inf file from the thread below and ensure that driver signature enforcement is disabled prior to installing these drivers. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=383784&highlight=quadro Good luck!
