GTX TITAN X at 1080p : how long is it going to last ?

In one of my gaming setups i m not going to change monitor. Never.
It s going to remain 1080p forever.

 

We don't pack crystal balls around here.
There's no such thing future proofing.

 

I'm gonna guess a good 7 years tbh, if you're willing to turn down settings later.

Until consoles catch up , tech becomes outdated very fast and todays fastest gpus become ebay's listings very soon .

 

I have 980ti sli

using DSR 1440P on 1080p 3D TV until my GPUs struggle, then I will drop to 1080p if titan X gets 7 years I will be very happy I was only hoping for 5 years so on that estimate I might get 10 years.

I would like 5 years then it will be upgrade time again.

 

Titan X will probably go strong even when Pascal GPU's are out. Idk about lower Maxwell cards tho...

 

Its pretty hard to predict the future since we don't know if there would be a game that would require steep gpu requirements (Crysis Era). But given the raw performance of the Titan X, a minimum of 5years.

 

A long time but nobody can put a specific time frame on such a thing.

 

As long as your aren't trying to push heavy AA (DSR, forced AA) and all of the newest and latest GameWorks effects (Which are meant to be high-end extras), you should be more than fine for a good long time at 1080p. At least 3-5 years i'm guessing.

Perhaps more or less if DX12 or Vulkan take off more.

 

Imho, you'd be better off buying two or three cards aimed at 1080p or slightly above, than spending all the money at once, and actually not profiting from the hardware you pay for (huge vram, more than enough computing power). But that's just my opinion.

I'm running TitanX @ 1080p. The answer is 3.2 years.
