Yeah, because my GTX760 will still allocate 4GB right away where required, I clearly dont have enough memory.

    Did I quote your post?

The users I replied to had application crashes due to lack of memory after disabling the pagefile, which is totally unrelated to the thread topic.
Whether the "allocation bug" even exists is debatable, however the above mentioned issues are creating confusion and muddying the subject.

Btw your 770 "allocation" has nothing to do with anything. The only reason your system isn't crashing is because you have a pagefile, I said that before.
If you think I'm kidding try disabling it and see what happens.

This is how I have my enblocal.ini

Notice that I have 16 of ram. And that ENB uses a strange way to calculate the value for VideoMemorySizeMb=

It's the system ram + video ram - 2048. Pure Vision has an installer that sets this value.
In reality ENB can only use 10240MB for this value. Having 18432 does nothing.

Another important setting is ReservedMemorySizeMb. This is just meory saved for swaping some data with the system ram. It's max value on ENB is 1024MB.

It would be something to be expected. However Nvidia advertises its asymmetrical capability a tech advantage and they sell it as "2GB".

Just like the Anand article says
    /show/6159/the-geforce-gtx-660-ti-review/2

The problem might have a different nature in different cards but the outcome is the same.

Monster is correct as I have found out myself in advanced warfare and the page file issue, I have only been poking his buttons on other areas ;) regarding system ram usage.

I was very shocked to have 8gb ram on system with a low or as good as zero page file and a new 970 to find advanced warfare would crash out even with textures on high. Maybe the games "high" setting is the old "mega" setting lol, who knows. But maybe its just a sign of things to come regarding textures used and their sizes and association to ingame drop down menu setting titles :D

Either way its making me feel like my system is medicore and of course that hurts :p

Using the tool toncij linked, I can hit roughly 4gb on my GTX 970.

Using MSI Kombustor it can only reach 3.8gb. Once it passes the 3.5gb mark it seems to fill the remaining vram slower.

Using Kombustor's 2gb test, the framerate is more than doubled, pretty much tripled.

Somewhat interesting, while using Kombustor 3072MB GPU Memory Burner test my system RAM usage bumps up to ~10gb usage, while using 2048MB Kombustor burner or the tool toncij supplied the system RAM hovers at ~3gb.

Seems like the highest dedicated usage I can hit is 3.8gb. I'm assuming Dynamic is shared system memory? I do not use a page file and the card is an Nvidia-branded reference 970 on a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot.

    Sorry for the unlinked images.

Hasnt anyone used MemtestG80 to test the bandwidth of lets say 3900mb allocated?

    I ran FarCry4 at 4k with 2xAA and 4xAA.

at 2x, Vid Mem usage topped at 3986. FPS were around 30, but the shimmering shadows were terrible.

At 4x Vid Mem topped at 4093. FPS were around 14, and the shimmering was worse.

Screenshots (via prts crn key) came out as black images, so no idea whats up there.

Of note, memory usage was 11.8GB and commit charge was around 17GB.

I will upload a 1/4 video of the shadow flashing when I get home from work.

The hightest Value i can test was 2850... after a few tries it started to test 2900MB but anything more results in an driver error.

i will post the result when its finished...
    Pagefile is on.

looks fine, the best general gpu test is 3dmark firestrike. :)
the new monster hunter online bench is good too.

    MemoryTestG80

Returned 55k errors in 10 iterations with 2560mb test size. 3072mb failed. I have a page file enabled.

Even 128mb test size had around 533 errors in around 50 iterations.

Also worth noting, its running at 6ghz mem clock in this speed, 7ghz is likely to return even more errors.

allocating with enough space is actually faster than when there's almost no space. (and prevents reallocations which involve a copy).

So 3500mb seems smart if they r only caching, but i cant explain 980 thing
