I have a Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 970, which let me tell you is quite the upgrade for me. The last PC I built, 2004-5, had a Nvidia GT 6600 and I've been using a 2009 13" MacBook Pro with an Nvidia 9400m 256mb for the last 5 years for gaming where I could till now. I had to put a number of games on hold because the 9400m simply couldn't handle much unless you jacked detail levels down, and even then no chance. I'm quite used to playing at low frame rates (Divinity: Original Sin at 8-12FPS, Dragon Age: Origins at 10-14FPS) so being able to play at max details with high frame rates is quite a change. I don't remember my GT 6600 giving me that same feeling. Loading up Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero and just watching the intro was kinda jaw dropping The only game so far thats proved an oddity is Lego Marvel Superheroes, where it generally plays long periods at 100-200FPS (sometimes much higher which causes what I guess is coil whine) but suddenly dips to 5-10fps for a second or so once in a while. Not sure whats causing that yet.
