I'm confused. Many people are hitting 7,800-8,000 on the memory OC.

    Reference cards vs custom cards.
Consider than cards cost between USD $329 and $400+.
$329 reference, cards are more likely to have lower overclocking headroom.
$Custom cards are more like to have higher overclocking Headroom.
People hitting 7,800 - 8,000 have custom cards.
People hitting lower have reference cards.

Mine can only do 7700 MHz. 7800 MHz will cause problems. 7800 MHz is rather high and definitely not guaranteed.

I'd say that most cards can do 7500-7700. Anything higher and you are lucky.

Go into the systems bios and see if there is a 'PCI-E spread spectrum' setting. If there is make sure that it is disabled. I have a P6T deluxe v2 and had some issues with my 970 that look to have cleared up once that was changed from 'auto' to 'disabled'. Maybe it will help for you?

Unfortunately, there is no spread spectrum on Z77x UD3H which is weird for such mobo.

I just sit back and wait with a good GPU for either broadwell (1150) or Skylake (1151), Q2 2015. To go for Haswell right now seems like a waste of money tbh

Haswell E is definitely worth the investment and the 5820k is a killer CPU for the money. If you are looking for a great platform and a CPU that'll last you for a good 5 years, that's the way to go.

Well, I have an extremely limited budget atm.
I can afford max a 4690k. The thing is that only Broadwell (not Broadwell-E) and Skylake S will be released. That Broadwell is unlocked tho while Skylake isn't. Can a 4690K can be on par with an unlocked Broadwell. And what about Skylake S on that equation?

    I'm officially confused :bang:

Ive modded my vbios now with my 24/7 clocks.

1506/8000mhz, stock voltage which is 1.212mV.

Also put an Accelero Xtreme cooler on to end my MSI fan woes.
    Load temps now about 52'c.

One thing I have noticed since updating vbios from .126 to .182 is that now occasionally I will get some some throttling at load.
I see in GPUZ that I am now hitting TDP sometimes.
Never saw it with the older vbios, nor when I was overclocking manually with inspector - i guess as I was raising power limit to 110% aswell with that tool.

Cant be temps as its like 48~52'c at the time.

I read that when [H] did a review on this card they commented that when they raised mem over 8k, it caused some TDP throttling aswell.

Guess ive got 2 options.... mod bios to raise TDP, or dial down the memory oc a bit

Yeah probably because the vrm is overheating.. I had that on a 470 AND my 580 lightnings.

When you guys are listing your temperatures....at what fan speed?

55c max load is nice, but you have the fan dimed....

How do you set your fan curve in precision? On my superclocked 970 I force the fan to about 35% which you can't hear over the game noise (I don't use headphones) and the card doesn't really go above 60c.

And how many extra fps are you getting on an oc'd card?

No i've left the MSI VRM heatsink on it.
I also added a side fan to blow at the VRM's aswell, so cooling there is better than it was.

Needed more power that all, raised power limit to 110% with inspector and no throttling, now just need to work out how this transpires to the values in Maxwell Bios II Tweaker.

When I OC'd manually before with Inspector I always made power limit 110%.
When I modded the bios i just adjusted clock and boost values, didn't touch power.

School boy error on my part.

    No mate, got 11895 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4536403

Gave up in the end. I may revisit it when i've modded the TDR of my card.
Couldn't get higher that 1585mhz before due to throttling...

Or i may just OC my CPU some more !!!

Tomorrow I'll try to get to the 12,000 mark. Currently it's my CPU limiting my potential. I have the card that will do it but my current CPU is holding me back. Looking at others with the 5xxx X99 platform, I should be able to get really close if not break it. We shall see....

If you haven't already make sure that you have HT on.. Otherwise, I'd be surprised if you could push your cards much farther.
