I've been arsing around in my BIOS trying to get a decent stable OC.

CPU is @ 4.4 now and the results without any GPU OC have broken the 10k mark...

    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2845858

I dropped my XMP1 (2400 / 1.65 / 11-13-13-30 ) to manually under-ride the default and run at 1333. Seems to create a bit more stability, but it's all a learning curve to me. Various terminologies and phrases which mean the same fundamental thing are confusing at times (in relation to guides) but I'm guessing that tighter timings equate to better performance and stability as opposed to faster frequencies ?

    ???

Demo vers. 720. Didn't know there was an 11 vers. I take it that my score can be significantly reduced if running at 1080 as opposed to the 720 of the demo ?

Overclocked my MSI GTX 970 with afterburner by 200 MHz (core clock 1314 MHz). Stable as expected with no memory or voltage tweaks.

    Hey guys.

Just checking to see what you think of this overclock?
    It's a Gigabyte GTX970 Gaming G1

    @ schoolofmonkey

Good graphics score. I was able to obtain a graphics score of 13082 with an increase of only 200 MHz to the core clock. Will play with core and memory clocks later.

Wondering how fast she will go.

I have two Windforce GTX 970s.
I have overclocked a single to 1549mhz and 8000mhz on Memory without increasing voltage.
With two GTX 970s in SLI I didn't change the OC at all but the boost only got it to 1509mhz.
I lowered the memory clock down a little for only one game (Witcher 2) which seemed to have an issue with it.

Has anyone tried the "A New Dawn" benchmark with a GTX 970?
I tried it but got obscenely low fps......like 15fps when in SLI (forced with SLI compatibility bit) and 9fps with SLI off.

I've also done some 1440p benchmarks with single card/SLI and uploaded the videos to YouTube.
Here is Thief completely maxed 4xSSAA at 1440p in SLI.
You can find the other videos by going to by user page.

Some pictures I took with both cards installed in my rig.

Nah that was from my 2007 build.

I've been through many builds since then but haven't bothered updating my specs.

I am using an i7 4770k right now.

Where in the heck are you guys buying these MSI gamming and gigabyte g1s? I can't find any no where. Amazon has some kind of backorder/order now ship later thing, but I wouldn't have any ideal how long the wait would be.

Yep. all the 970/980 got snatched up really fast. Not surprising.

I have heard from several brick & mortar and online retailers that more cards (MSI, Asus, Gigabyte) will become available first week of October, so middle of this coming week onward.

For those who are looking, keep up to date on your retailer of choice.. you should start noticing more trickle in past this week.

I get my MSI 970 Gaming tomorrow. I can't wait. I think I'll break it in by finally playing Far Cry 3. Bought that game on Steam last Christmas. Lol

I bought both of my GTX 970s on the day they released.
2 hours later after buying them I noticed they were already out of stock everywhere.

Tell me, how are the temps of your cards in that Air 540?

I think I can go higher but 24479p will do for now (1506/7500/+35mV)

    Hi all.
No chance to test this brand new card in Vray RT (3dsmax)?

I'm going to leave my Quadro card for a GTX970/980 but don't know if Vray already supports Maxwell.

    Thanks.

Did one final run, it passed Firestrike, but it wasn't 100% stable, I couldn't get it to pass 3dmark 11:

Just installed my new toy! Even in passive mode this thing idles at ~32c.

Ran firestrike (stock speeds, boosted to 1291 MHz):

LOL. Fans didn't even start spinning in the first test. When they did in the second one, they ran at 975 RPM max...

I think I found nice stable overclock for my card.

The speed increase in 3DMark11 is much larger than I though it would be compared to my previous GTX 780. In test three the difference is 15 fps.

    EDIT:
    Still testing...

I just pre-ordered the Asus gtx 970 strix version, I would have gotten the MSI version but it was about $40 bucks more for whatever reason... Its about 300mm long and im using a Fractal Node 304 which has a maximum clearance for GPU's of about 310mm so its going to be a tight fit. Should be alright though im just worried about how im going to route the wires to make space, its a small case as it is already...

edit: cancelled the asus one on NCIX, Newegg just got a couple of the EVGA ACX 2.0's in stock, I managed to snag one! Hopefully I dont have any cooling or coil whine issues! Im excited!!
