I really want to upgrade to a 970 but funds are preventing me at the moment. I think with this card and the ACER XB27OHU I'd be in gaming heaven for my needs :)

Yeah, great job with the cable management.
I also have the same PSU and with that thing it's not the easiest, but after seeing your system i will redo it later today if i get the chance.

My less than perfect first attempt, excuse the crappy quality as i was using a Nvidia Shield to take the pics while putting this together in a low light room last weekend, but you get an idea the size difference between the two cards.

The single 8pin power header on the Strix helps cable management a little though.

It is, and it didn't fit so i had to buy a longer one.

It also limits what kind of bridge i buy as well, never realised or checked how big it was when i said i would take the card.

Woke up this morning and it was 19c ambient, so decided to bump the memory up and give it a go. Best run thus far in Heaven, at 1586 / 4205

You know you have issues if you wake up on a cold morning and your first thought is to benchmark.

How so? I know a lot of people who take advantage of cold weather to push hardware farther and increase benchmark scores. I been known to do it as well.

No need to be defensive. Always defensive. I've done it as well. That's doesn't stop it from being ridiculous.

Who is being defensive?, I just asked a question regarding an odd ball statement.

lol, I've been waiting months for winter to roll around. It's hard to keep memory cool, even under water with such extreme clocks. For elpida and hynix, especially.

I love this time of the year just because my desk is cozy warm because I usually leave my pc folding all day.

Goodness...why are the pics so BIG on this forum? They don't auto resize?

LOL even too big for a 1440p screen, you need to resize the images.

Still a lot of work left. I have a LOT of cutting and machining to do with the acrylic water channels and such yet.

Looks finished to me...... I'd love to run a setup like that.

I've done it numerous times and I still agree with him. I even find it ridiculous when I do it.....lol Of course, I used to do it for heat output back in the days of the Athlon T-Bird processors when you could use a properly vented case as a small room furnace....

I came from a 760 too with a strict budget. Luckily, my friend bought my 760 for a good price and helped me purchased a 970. The difference is good but the 760 as of now can still manage. If you want, try looking for a used 970 or wait for some good deals this christmas.

That Arctic Freezer brings back memories... I use to have the 1st version of Freezer Pro 7 paired with a C2D E6600 way back 2008... Regarding the PSU, I was also aiming for a modular one, but the GS800 has this fan led color change feature that I can't resist back then, hahaha!
