I picked up a GTX680 FTW+ 4GB for $250 almost a year ago. On eBay I've seen one or two of the same cards for sale, one of which is currently under $250.

My question is, would it be worth picking up another card for $250 (or slightly less) now, or should I wait for them to get cheaper?

EDIT: I'm currently running a single 1920x1200 monitor with two 1440x900 monitors on each side. Not an ideal triple monitor setup for gaming, but it does work quite well with almost all Codemaster titles (among some others). I do plan on eventually upgrading each to 1920x1200, although I'm unsure when that will actually happen.

I wish they were cheaper now. The 4GB GTX 680s can't be found for under $250 it seems. All the biddings start out cheap but always end up over $250 in the end.

Guess you're right though, it would be a much smarter choice to sell my GTX 680 for roughly $250 and then just upgrade. After selling the 680 I could pick up a 970 for about $100.

EDIT: I'm finding 970s for less than $300 on eBay. Definitely the better buy.

You might be lucky and find some upset/scared owners of the 970 selling them at sub par pricing :D

That's what I'm hoping for. If I see one go for really cheap I'll snag one up. Maybe even two if it's cheap enough.

There's an ASUS STRIX GTX970 on eBay right now with a buy it now price of $289.99. A card that has a price of $349.99 on Newegg.

You're probably right, but I still think right now would be the time to go shopping for those 970s, either for upgrading, or to go sli or tri sli even. I'm still fairly sure some are just that upset to sell their cards, maybe regretting it later, who knows. Maybe it's a good time to buy hand picked good clocking cards too that way.

That looks like a rather good deal, just price wise. $290 excl. shipping is one hell of an offer... here I'd pay about €360 for a brand new one excl. shipping and handling, adding up to €380 easily ;)

In-terms of numbers, the 680SLI would be faster than a 970, about the same as a 980. It would also have .5GB more than the 970 ;)

Then you need to work out if you want the hassle of running SLI (heat, game compatibility etc)

To me I think getting a 2nd 680 is not a bad idea considering it will equal a 690 with 4gb per GPU rather than 2gb per card. Plus the 690 is hold its own even today with some of the new games out there. But thats my take.
