On GTX 580, I can't disable power limiter running 337.88WHQL command line: "E:\...\GPU-Z.0.4.8.exe" "/GTX580OCP" Try older GFX driver? Any help
Only way to disable it is using a custom bios, and flashing it with Nvflash. So I have no idea what you're trying to do THERE....
I always use EVGA Precision. I installed MSI AfterBurner now but how do I disable power limiter using MSI AB?
The command line was fixed not to work anymore on 270.xx if I remember correctly. Try 266.58WHQL with GPU-z pre 0.5.0
I don't flash any non-EVGA bios because it may void warranty. I will try that soon... But sadly no solution for lastest GFX driver yet...
Its a power overcurrent protection for Furmark etc.. Why would you want to disable that? You will kill it this way. I had stock 580 and I could OC just fine to 900mhz with normal voltage tweak ~ 1.088v.
@Friend: GTX 580 may not be killed by high power but yes this card killed is caused by the very dust, the temp limit exceeded (max ~80ºC especially), the insufficient PSU, the low-end mboard (low-end mboard may be damaged). Ok? -> OC may be (much) more dangerous than the very high power@stock. Because...any worry for Crysis 2/3 due to stutter/performance dropped because the power limited is fault, ok? Like my GTX 480 (almost 43 months old) hadn't any problems despite 91-92 ºC in Furmark. EDIT: GTX 580 won't killed because I used UPS (AC is away).
No if you disable powercurrent protection and run furmark it can kill it, go ahead and try, but don't say you have been warned. And nope OC is not dangerous as long as you know what you're doing and how you test it.. My old 570 bite the dust cause of driver (331.92?) so did your 480 now and you didnt Oc it, there you have it
look my previous post was edited. GTX 480 was died because likely my father cleaned not very well dust (no aspirator using lol) - not always montly.
Doesn't flashing bios on your own void your warranty, no matter which one you use? And also, I'm wondering, a warranty on a 580? How old are those things, 3 to 4 years at least? Does EVGA offer increased warranty on that card?
Oh that makes sense then. Still I'm surprised that even flashing the bios, no matter what version, doesn't void the warranty. EVGA seems to really try and keep their customers.
Please do NOT flash non-EVGA bios nor unofficial bios because EVGA doesn't release "new" EVGA bios for GTX 580 officially yet.
This isn't quite the case. Flashing a BIOS alone does not void your warranty. However, if you need to RMA the GPU and you cannot flash it back to the stock BIOS, they may refuse to honor your warranty. I've got 4 GPU's that are still under limited lifetime. Two 580's, a GTX 570, and a GTX 470 SC. My personal advice is if you can't afford to replace the GPU on your own dime, you shouldn't be flashing your BIOS.
And OCP isn't the cause for Crysis2,3 stutter. I played both on 580gtx 1.5gb and no stutters. Your issue is somewhere else, probably cpu OC. 580gtx puts more stress on cpu then your old gpu. :nerd: Try cpu system agent (Vccsa) 0.010 - 0.020v+ offset if it fixes it, this is minimal voltage bump dont worry about it, its safe up to 0.150v offset. Or raise your cpuv for 0.003v
Download GPUtest 0.6.0, I run it to select "Furmark" and I got 52 fps on GTX 580 (while my old GTX 480 44 fps) at 1080p despite cannot work power limited disabled.
