I'm talking about hardware support. Sure, the 6 and 7 also supports DX 10 but it can't handle the extra effects supported in DX 10. Same goes with Geforce 8,9, GT200 and DX11.
Nope you are incorrect, Microsoft has already announced backwards compatibility from 8 Series on. Also the 6 and 7 series did not support DX10, so I don't know what you are referring to. DX10 unveiled unified architecture and this wasn't available until the 8 Series. DX11 is simply an update to DX10, it's not a complete build from the ground up. Sorry but this is laughable, why is anyone getting excited about DX11 when DX10 hasn't even earned its weight yet! DX11 will needed when games actually start using it. The sad fact is DX9 is still king where as DX10 is a very small graphics boost that doesn't allow anything to be detrimental to gameplay.
I've heard so many rumors it's not even worth guessing at this time. First I heard nov., then I heard jan./feb., so who knows really...
Well I think the industry is going to have to slow down with the economy in the tank around the world. ATI is in a better position and Nvidia needs to answer with faster cheaper cards. I wouldn't be surprised if they release these and then sit on them until ATI releases their new card.
Would make sense yes, nvidia got enough revenue from the good times last year to hold out on their release ( biding their time, waiting out the regression ), and when ATI makes the move they will release simultanously and both will probably have a quite even matched product; and in the end the consumers will have a field day cus of the price war. Then both companys will have to go back and try and recapture the status quo they had pre all the financial regression, and not until after that release we will now wich company really has the driver seat and who will ride shotgun.
Great then! So we don't need DX 11 hardware since DX 10 hardware is also DX 11 hardware due to it's GPGPU capabilities?
DX9 vs DX10: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/19966.html http://www.gametrailers.com/player/19968.htm I know you can make some modifactions to DX9 to get some of the effects in DX10 but things like smoke effects in games like Crysis is a big difference between DX9 vs DX10 PS kanej2007, who's your avatar?
What I mean is directx10 is not being fully used at all, they should make a game that is 100% directx10, not using part of it, there is not a HUGE difference between directx9 and 10... Any why jump from directx10 to 11 when directx10 is not being fully used, makes no sense to me... And the girl in my avatar is a page 3 girl in 'the sun' newspaper!! Her name is Lucy Pinder, a sexy model I dream of...
Well, I'm a graphics nerd, but I don't think graphics in games has evolved very much since games like Kingpin http://www.gogamer.com/products/gogamer/screenshots/001KIN/2.jpg to Halflife 2 http://web.gameguru.ru/img/img/half-life_2/half-life_2_large_19.jpg Crysis was a big step forward but still waiting for graphic cards supporting realtime rendering and later on like-in-real-life games. PS1 I've been told GTX290 that will be the fastest single nVidia DX10 card will also support DX11 in it's hardware. That's really good for the consumers! PS2 the hottest feauture in DX11 is tesselation and that's one big step to more realistic graphics. PS3 I think nVidia is better than ATI because ATI is so damn hot (temperature) compared to nVidias cards. It's better with more efficient GPUs like the nVidia case than many less efficient VPUs like in ATI that make them run really hot. Also nVidia has games, such as UT III ,supporting PhysX. PS4 what do you think about the British brawd Allison Carroll Laura, the new model for Tomb Raider Underworld? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/252902.html
lol i started this of on page 2 i herd bout dx11 suport ages ago carnt remember wair thogh i just want dx10 to come to xp then will be happy ( i have vista ultimat but runs crap in games due to my prosesor) any one know if dx11 will be avalible to use on vista
"We're excited to bring you this newest release of the DirectX API set. So it looks like gtx270/290 are delayed till Feb ? http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/11/04/nvidia-270-290-deep-trouble
looks like a this rate i'll be using my step-up for a 280. 55 days left which brings me just into jan 1st. DOH still u never know...fingers crossed. P.S If I could get another 260 stock for £150 that might also be a winner atm i dont see a stock 280 better value for money than a 260.
Thats all BS as even ATI's latest 10.1 card do NOT AT ALL support DX11 so please read up before spreading more BS To use DX11 you gonna need DX11 hardware simple as that! http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20081005-ati-dx11-40nm-gpus-on-track-for-a-2009-launch.html "Quote The tessellation unit currently built into existing ATI cards, by the way, is not DX11- compatible, and is only capable of some of the capabilities the new standard requires"
