I really hope that that power consumption is true.

    Seems to be interesting card.

To bad I am broke, but if this refresh servers anything like the last one it should rain supreme for a few months allowing me to grab one. Hopefully they leave the memory and bandwith alone and just release a faster gpu!

Finally the green team move to 55nm. But I can still see ATI dominating this time round. Their price points are just great and the performance they are offering is unmatched. My 4870x3 cost just as much if not less than a single GTX280 and it wipes the floor with it, destroying it in almost every test (bar 2 i think).

I just cant wait til Core i7 as I will be upgrading my mobo and ram in time for xmas and then sitting underneath my xmas tree will be a nice new Core i7 2.66GHz lol you would be made to get the 2.93GHz or 3.2GHz version as the 2.66GHz is already 25% faster clock for clock than the fastest Extreme Core 2 Quad and then the Core i7's overclock like mad easily 3.2Ghz will be achieved by simply increasing the QPI.

    Sounds fast :)

ATI is not leading at prices everywhere. In Finland 9800gtx+ is about 100€ cheaper than 4870.

Difference isnt that huge between 280gtx and 4870x2... 280gtx is about 50€ cheaper.

Yea the difference between the 280 and the 4870x2 arent big at all, very small considering the 280 is a single core with half the memory of the 4870x2.

I wouldnt say that the 4870x2 "wipes the floor" with the 280. Hardly.

    Exactly.
And please don't compare dual GPU to single GPU.
Wait for the GX2 290 or whatever they're gonna call it.

Hmm . . . cool, but I am going to wait for the DX11 cards that will show their faces next year. 2009 is going to be a competitive year since ATi is back in the game.

Sounds good, can't wait! Since I was thinking about getting a GTX260 Core216. I'm definitely going to wait now, save some more money, and get one of these if they turn out to perform well enough.
