    Hey folks

New nividia owner here - just made the switch from a 3870 x2/3870 trifire config.

I have a low profile 9600gt that i yanked from my HTPC sitting around

Is it worth it to through that in as a physx card.

My motherboard with set the my 2.0 pci-e slots to 8x.

Just wanted a pros cons before i start to reconfig my rig

also, is there a certain order in how i should install the cards and drivers??

    thanks guys

I'd say yes, Batman: AA brings my GTX275 to it's knees when physx is on normal...so...ya.

i say no its not worth it. i tried with my gtx275 and my 9400gs and in all benchmarks the scores were lower. i put it down to the to the lanes being halved to x8. but to be honest you may aswell try it yourself, youve got the gear. if i remember wrightly you should be able to plug the second card straight in and it'll be picked up and you get the options to use it as a P/Card.

Definitely try it. Benchmarks are not indicative of real world performance because they generally push PhysX only thus the faster card wins every time. Real world performance will likely be a whole different story. I would imagine that card is almost as fast as my 8800 GTS when paired as a PhysX PPU.

    I read somewhere that a card that runs on a 2.0 @ 8x is the same as 1.1 @ 16x?

if this is true then there will be not negative effects on performance - only positive right?

    Yeah both are same.

And you will see improments in games like Batman AA, Mirror's Edge. If you play those games, its worth.

with my 260gtx 730/1515/2300 main and 8800gtx 620/1500/2200 physx at 1920 x1200 i get a minimum of 39fps maxed out physx on high with batman aa with just the 8800gtx used as main and physx min is 15fps with 260gtx main and physx min is 20fps. i gave my other 8800gtx to bro he uses that as main and 9600 gt as physx and gets min 26 @ 1650x1050 but i think that's because of his stinkbomb phenom clocked at 2.5 it won't clock any further
