I am looking at those two models and I need help deciding.

I am looking for a quite build, in a Fractal R5 case. So the best noise/temp ration is esential. Also, important is IF these cards (manufactures) are reliable over time.

There is also the MSI gaming X. It looks as my secure bet. But I would like to know if the mentioned 2 cards are better considering noise/temp and reliability.

    TNX!

How you know gainward is better cooled than msi? And please, talk not just about temperatures but also noise. So, gainward is better cooled AND silent than msi?

I just bought a GTX 1080 Amp Extreme, and I can attest that the cooling for the Amp Extreme series is second to none. This is the second Amp Extreme that I've owned, as I have the 980 Ti version as well.

Very cool, yet extremely quiet. I haven't installed it yet, but I have opened the box. I'll throw up some pictures later once I get around to installing it, in the 1080 thread if you want to take a look.

And i fo understand gainward glh is quit identical to palit gamerock.

    Than how about gainward gs?

And ig gs share same cooling, how silent is your gamerock in full load? Tnx!

I'd stay away from Gainward, their QC is terrible.

I just made a test with my MSI shutting down all case fans (except cpu of course).
    Room temp: 28°C
    15m loop Unigine Heaven 4.0
The card was in stock default OC mode (Base: 1708 MHz / Boost: 1847 Mhz).
During all test my MSI kept at a steady 76° with eventual 77° peaks. Fans ran at an average of 65%. Temp inside the case reached 48°C. Real gpu clock stayed between 1962/1974 Mhz during all test.
This shows how well TwinFrozerVI performs even in a bad cooled environment.

Just want to chime since it's getting knocked that the MSi 1070 cooler is massive and phenomenal. It is 2 slot but sticks out towards the window farther than most coolers. It is essentially silent (unless you deliberately make a profile to unnecessarily ramp it up) and even a 100% fan speed, it isn't all that loud. The temperatures have been fantastic as well.

Not sure on all the other 1070 variants, but I can't believe they're better as this is the best cooler I've ever used (we have three 9 series & three 7 series cards here too).

I personally despise cards that take up 3 slots. That's for AMD furnaces. :nerd:

Ok. Msi has always been a choice. So, how loud at 100%? Android app noise meter set with digital filter db(A) with phone st on the case would give me good iddea on noise. If you can make the test, i would thank you!

One thing the MSI Gaming X has going for it is double ball bearing fans. Gigabyte 1070 Xtreme Gaming as well. We know this because its an advertised selling point on their product pages. Cards that do not advertise this I presume do not have it. So that may be somewhat of a factor on reliability front at least.

Can I presume gainward gs (non glh) would cool and noise similar to palit gamerock or I am in error?

What is double ball bearing and what it does?

Yes. I saw in comparison gainward glh is around 1db louder than palit gamerock. Also 1 degree hotter. I presume gs is the same as glh @ lower clocks. Correct?

Yes, I know the review. Is pretty much the only one about amp extreme. Though it is gtx 1080.

Real hard choice... Gainward seems a bit more balanced while amp extreme is a beast for OC but a little less ratio for noise/temp.

I read a comparizon at hardwareluxx.de that give msi as silent as strix or gainward but alot hotter. 73 for msi vs 66 for strix. Can that be true? Comparison at hardwareluxx is rather contradictory to comparing at computerbase. Here it is:

That is EXACTLY my problem: all models (MSI, STRIX, Gainward GS and ZOTAC Extreme) are in the same price range (diferences less than 5$). So I can`t choose on price, as this is equal. I have to choose on quality then. What card is then most realiable and has best quality build?

Wow... 100% fan sub 60 degrees. Noce really. Tell me how loud is then @100%?

I ordered my Gainward gtx1070 Golden Sample.
