Rockstar Games unveiled new information about Grand Theft Auto V, which is slated for a Spring 2013 release. The game promises an extremely large map, Rockstar claims the game's city, Los Santos, will be bigger than GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption and GTA San Andreas combined!.

But it will still run like poo on the PC and look ugly as sin on the consoles (again).

Hope they have got rid of that awful lighting from the previous game and the long gap between checkpoints which meant you had to do the same part of the game over and over and over and...

I won't even look at it if it runs anywhere near as bad as GTA4. :leave:

Optimisation should be their top priority. Otherwise it will be unmanageable for a pc like gta4 was.

no reason not to get it. enjoyed every gta game so far.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas = 13,9 Square Miles
Grand Theft Auto: IV = 16 Square Miles
Red Dead Redemption = 28 Square Miles

    nice indeed :D

Last GTA I truly enjoyed playing was Vice City. San Andreas was crap, GTA4 was much better but I did not bother finishing that one as it got boring. Did not play GTA4 at the release, bought it from some Steam sale when it run quite well after few patches(?) and I had PC which was able to deal with the game (which is the more likely reason why it ran well). Hopefully they will get this one working straight from the PC release (optimize).

Not sure if game getting boring was something to do with game area getting bigger and bigger all the time yet feeling more empty. Perhaps there was not enough stuff to do or there was too much to do, still good luck with this game. :) Might not be buying straight at the time when game comes out, but from Steam(?) sale if I dont hear exceptionally good comments from friends, reviews and so which might make me buy it like a week from release.

    Really?

    Go play GTA3 then GTA4

Not to mention they release them about every 3-4 years, nothing like the yearly modern shooter releases

The last GTA I played was San Andreas and got quickly bored as for as large as it was, there were just huge empty deserts and mountain areas with sweet f.a. going on in them. Vice City I felt had a nice density to it where there was some fun to be had wherever you ended up.
Hopefully this won't just be more emptiness.

My mate's working on this at Rockstar North, he won't spill any more than has already been leaked, not even about the PC version. Git.

Fired and banned from any game development for the rest of his life. That is surely a permanent record on him.

Some people will just cry to cry I swear. When GTA4 came out I only had a Athlon X2 5000+ oced to 3.4ghz, 8800gts 512 and 4gb ddr2 and thought it ran damn good for the system I had. You would think people here would be happy GTA4 helped push multicore processors to the normal above dual cores even if the game wasnt as multicore savy as we wanted, its a stupid heavy cpu engine at the time. Im just hoping I can run gta5 good enough. My Q6600 is starting to really show its age.

Yeah, i wouldn't take the risk if it was me.

Looking forward to this, loved San Andreas and wanted to like GTAIV but ended up really hating it, thankfully the two expansion packs were much better.

The performance of GTAV will be better on the PC if they dumb down the graphical options.
The previous game let you render a ridiculous amount that nearly everyone didn't have the hardware for, and probably couldn't see the difference anyway, but people on the PC hate not being able to turn the sliders up so most are going to do it.

As mentioned an improvement in lighting would be great, with shadows being something i particularly want to see improved as they were far from good in GTAIV.
