Woah!!! I suggest everyone to leave Clip Capture ON. I confirm there are slowdowns bugs when set OFF (as confirmed by Rockstar too). My game is now running a solid 45-60 fps with 80% view/detail and shadows to high (for some reason V.high is a pure killer).

I had Clip capture off and that's why I had very strange frame drops. All fine now!!!!!! geez I know why I love my new single GPU now.

^^ i can confirm it does stop flicky shadows...lol... what was once there to cripple us seems no to be our friend!!

nice find Wanny, although I'm not sure if i'm getting slightly lower FPS and a few more pop ups as a result, will need to play properly later, just had a wee look to test it just now!!

    Fantastic find wanny, muchos thanks.

Getting this on Friday with the start of my upgrade, so glad to hear some of the issues are being sorted.

hi since i'm using a c2d i cannot expect 60fps on average is that right?

It runs smooth for me though. Everything set to very high.

I think it was "-availablevidmem 1.5" (Minus the " " marks.) to 2.0 depending on GPU memory.
(Or it might have been -percentvidmem 1.5 to 2.0, somewhat unsure now that I think more about it.)

Interesting notice about clip capture as well, heard it could be used for stuttering when near water for some odd reason but interesting that it also improves general stutter and the framerate drops when enabled.
(Some sort of cache or incorrect cache when disabled perhaps, all it does is to make sure the last 30 seconds can be buffered into those video clips and then those can be edited together in short movies and shared wasn't it?)

Im having a problem where textures would disappear and reappear. I was standing near a build and when I was turning the textures disappeared on the building causing it to be blurry. it started happening after the patch.

I wondering if its because Im using the newest preview drivers.

WOW i can confirm 'Clip Capture ON' really fixed the sluggish gameplay after the last patch, thanks sooo much for that info! :)

... i can even switch shadows back on, not a problem anymore

i found after playing more, i still end up with flicky trees both with CC on and off. On the whole it runs slightly smoother for me with it off, but it runs longer without flicky trees when CC is on... hmph...... awaiting the next patch R*

It's £14.99 on Steam, and Play.

Just depends on what you prefer, i won't buy a retail game anymore so i will opt for the stream version, was going to get the pack, but my OS HDD is chunky enough as it is.

DO you create a shortcut to RGSCLauncher & add that to the target?

okay completed lost and damned main storyline left with gay tony.

Anyway just curious is there no way to set game difficulty?

Does anyone feel that the enemies in the game are actually quite retarded? It's so easy to kill them. They just stand there u hide behind a wall and u can do a head shot without looking cos ur controlling thru 3rd person but still the enemies are dumb.

Yeah, the game is too easy. To make it a bit harder i always go on a mission without any armor. Not perfect but it's a start.

    Another solution would be modding.

Anyone can make the Vsync work @ 60 fps? It's always 55 fps cap for me when it's on?

I tried commandlines -frameratelimit 1 -refreshrate 60 but it doesn't work.

    thx

GTA's AI has always been lame, but sometimes it can be a laugh seeing some of the stuff the AI does, like randomly drive into a street light for no apparent reason, or inadvertently helping you get past a tricky mission, or a cop chasing you then randomly driving off a ledge causing a pile up down below.

I just wish Rockstar would fix up the graphics engine. There is no AA, Shadows slow down the engine way too excessively, many textures look terrible, and general performance is half of what is expected these days.
