I think we need 4 GPU's for asmoither experience.

Have you tried setting msaa to 8x?

These are the settings I use and I have not had any more problems with stuttering:

Here is how the bench mark goes. In game is no problems either. I re-verified my game with steam after the last patch too. Not sure if it did anything but just FYI. I can put the Extended distance and shadows up to 100% but the frames drop a bit and 60% seems like enough. My cards and CPU are all stock speeds.

I have since upgraded to eyefinity x3 qnix overclocked to 104hz (active adapter limited on 1 monitor)

my 290 crossfire achieves 100% on each now I can get decent fps 60+ on highish settings and runs pretty smooth.

so im assuming it is something to do with trying to achieve 120fps on 1 monitor with low settings must be something to do with the game itself

Seems good, 70/70 so far (haven't tested much).
    Maxed out 2560x1600 MSAA x2.

These have worked for me also, the game is actually playable now with crossfire enabled. Able to maintain 100/120fps now without it constantly dipping to 30~ like before.

Glad it's fixed for you. It's so much smoother for me like I'm playing with a single card :)

It almost seems as if the driver has some kind of problem "feeding" the gpu, and when the gpu has to do more, then the bottleneck is solved. That, or the MSAA makes the whole frame wait more until it is completed, and it gives you the feeling of smoothness.

No bugs? Have you checked single card performance? Should I dive? :D

I've only seen bugs with DX10.1 (pixel bugs on vehicles).
I will test single card now.

    Dive in!

edit: Single card is so smooth! :)

I have a single gpu. I did two runs with each driver, and I kept the best. Here are some results. My system spec is on the left. RadeonPro was NOT running while running the tests. My OS is Windows 8.1.1 x64, and I'm running Process Lasso in the background and I have "Gaming" mode enabled for GTAV.exe, which disables core parking and runs my CPU at minimum 3.4GHz all the time.

    Here they are:

I played a bit, it somehow feels smoother here, less juddery, but the numbers don't seem to be backing it up. There is also that max framerate anomaly on the second pass.

Keep in mind that this is not the "GTA V" driver, like the 15.4 is. I wonder what the combination would give to my poor, old, slow 7970. :D

These were my game settings for testing both drivers.

Yeah I'm not seeing poor scaling - while running one GPU in a heavy grass and tree area with grass set to ultra, 1440p (just to make sure the GPU is being completely stressed) I went from about 33fps to around 65fps with CF enabled and 100% usage in both cases.

I did notice frame timing inconsistencies with jutter below 60fps in the last game patch but that was only when the the CPU was walled (consequently) resulting in low GPU usage; that seems to have smoothed out in the last game patch. Though dropping below 60fps while saturating the GPU's seemed and still does result in little to no stutter - maybe frame pacing is able to do it's job better when the CPU has a bit of overhead i.e. frame timing is much better when the GPU's are completely saturated. With all that said vsync walled at 60fps with edit>CF enabled is absolutely perfect... until you start to drive.
Cores are always unparked & beta 15.4 throughout btw.

So all of these reports of stutters while running one GPU and the fact that a specific driver fixes it sounds as though that is fixable through drivers - the edit>CF driving stutter (not an actual stutter, I mean, it is but it's a very prominent few hitches or hard haults) is probably game related. I think we are going to find that when Rockstar fixes the GPU memory usage or stacking bug these driving haults will disappear for CF users. The term stutter is overused and far too generalized, honestly...

The driving stutter, you mean with crossfire? Try the drivers posted by vbs.

I want to actually play the game to check. The drivers just seem a tad slower for GTA V to me, but the (less than 5 minutes) that I played, looked ok.

Only just realized I had core parking completely enabled (0%) which is a bit silly. I played a bit after completely disabling it and I will say it felt a lot better. For 5 minutes, not one single jerky motion while driving around town (busy places).
Maybe it's something to do with the frame time being lower I really don't know (as your benchmarks say the opposite). One thing though, 15.4 is unplayable with crossfire for me.

That's why I use Process Lasso actually. I have designated processes that enable a specific power plan that has everything on "disabled" and "100%". It has saved me from a lot of trouble during the years. I even use the SetTimerResolutionService to make sure that the games run with the best possible timer resolution. It had helped a ton with FarCry4 and AC Unity (before 14.12).

I would recommend to use those along with RadeonPro for vsync, especially if you have CFX.

One last question. You had Core Parking enabled with the 15.4 drivers, the 1018.1, or both?

Nothing would sort out FarCry 4 here, had to wait for game patches to make it playable.
My cores have been parked for a long time including with 15.4. I re-tested the overhead test when unparked, gained about 50k at most across the board.
I might go back to 15.4 and see the difference but first may actually play the game longer than 5 minutes.

I'll check out Process Lasso later, thanks.
