GRID Autosport any good guys?

Pretty straightforward...I own the first two and whilst I didn't like the second one but I hear the 3rd one is an improvement on the second one - so, worth it?

Well I was wondering the same so I did try the "free" version. What can I say. Codies really need to do something about their games, because between GRID, DIRT and F1 I just can't see any difference. It is like playing the same old game with different cars. They, the games, look good, sound good and run well even on my PC on high with constant 60fps, but that's about it. If you played one of their games - you played them all. They look the same, sound the same and have the same GUI with different skin. They are nor arcade, nor sims. Control with a wheel is bad too.
It is like trying to be creative with Word Art. However you twist it in the end no one will be blown away..
Needles to say – uninstalled it after 20mins..

 

Game is ok better than Grid 2, but that's not saying much really.
The game engine is looking a bit dated now, but runs smooth as it should.
The AI is all over the place thou. Some tracks there super fast and some fairly slow and their forever crashing into you and often spinning you out which is super f****** annoying if your playing without flashbacks :bang:
If you can get a cheap key it's worth a look.

 

I find it awesome, the sounds, the handling, the feeling of racing inside the cockpit is so immersive.

 

it's ok if you want a brainless arcade.

 

There's a lot of content (competitions, cars and tracks) and options to tweak and overall it's a fine game but the engine is definitely looking dated now and the game as a whole lacks excitement IMO. There's nothing really wrong with it as such (bar the lazily done cockpit view) but it's just a been-there, done-that, seen-it-all-before kind of game unfortunately.

They need a new engine, this one got old about 15 race game releases ago.

 

No way, this is the most well rounded engine in racing games out there... also has the best IQ.

 

I wouldn't say it's brand new, but it got a new update last year and is on its third update.

Frostbite is on its third update and Unreal Engine on its forth.

Not seeing what's wrong with the engine, but if they are not pushing the engine in specific regards to GRID, then shame on them; but I feel the engine is fine and seems to run almost flawlessly.

 

It's just GRID2 with some tweaks to the steering.

Same cars, same courses feels like a massive piss take to me tbh.

 

I was gonna buy this, but dont think ill bother now cheers Des.

 

Lol, it has new circuits like Bathurst, Hockenheim, Tremblant, Américas, Spa... also I have been playing with some endurance and touring cars that weren´t in Grid 2.

And the handling without the electronic assists follows an opposite direction to the typical codemasters arcade, take a corner too fast and the car will refuse to turn, put a rear tire in the grass at some fast corner in Spa, you´ll spin... this game is more like a grown up and evolved Toca

 

I didnt like Grid 2 cause it didnt have an in- car cockpit view, thats the only reason why i didnt like it. I know its a minor but thats the way i am when it comes to features.

 

Yesterday I also saw Istanbul and a circuit named Autosport "something", which is a very nice circuit and weren´t in grid 2.

Also the graphics engine seems to be updated since grid 2, Algarve looks so realistic now for example, and circuits in general look much more detailed and rich (Yas Marina had project cars level of detail in grid 2 but now is in another level).

Almost forgot, most circuits now have a night version, not an afterthought because they are very well done with a lot of light effects and projected shadows in almost every object trackside... Spa at night is awesome

 

It's a solid game but not worth the full price IMO. If you can find it cheaper then go for it.

 

The changes in handling are night and day, the game is quite good. If you liked Grid 1 you will enjoy Autosport.

 

Man this new Washington GP circuit has to be the most awesome street circuit ever, I don´t know who traced it but he knows what he is doing. Fluid, with variety, and a few not so easy to master curves. The course wasn´t in Grid 1 strangely enough.

are the drifting tracks back? thats really the only thing i liked in Grid 2
