I consider the RX 6700 XT to be in the same price bracket as my RX 470 when I purchased it for $279.... if prices are normalizing then I would love to see that reality.

There is no way in hell I am upgrading to a RX 6500 XT which is actually currently more expensive than my RX 470 when I purchased it.

^ Yeah I hear ya. I'm only willing to upgrade to a similar tier card at a similar price. They want me to spend $1200-$1500 for the same tier product when it used to cost me $5-700 max. I'm just not doing it. I'll just go without a GPU upgrade. The price they are asking for GPUs is not inline with the nature of what these things are; a single component for rendering frames. So many better things to spend $1000+ on instead of a GPU for gaming.

This time, a few months before next gen these cards are all supposed to be on sale for less than MSRP with some game bundles and stuff.
    Thanks ETH for this...

I have been upgrading the GPU every two generations as that is the way I double the fps (approximately). From 580 to the 780, then the 1080ti and now it should be 3080ti or the 12Gb 3080 looking at the performance charts on this page.

I have a 1080ti that I bought some years ago second hand and it cost me 600€. Nowadays its price is not much lower. I am not going to pay more than 500/600€ for a 3080ti. I am not going to spend 600€ on a 3070 because I would be spending a lot of money for little increase in performance.

We have been led to believe that we should pay more. Some may be dragging their feet but the reality is that only those who have used the GPU to make money have paid high prices. Those of us who use GPUs for gaming are not going to. And the worst thing for the GPU industry is that we have become accustomed to playing at medium detail or disabling not so necessary options like ambient occlusion. And you know what we have learned? That it still looks good. And if you add to that a G-Sync monitor you can play many games well with 50fps that are real.

My recommendation: upgrade your monitor to G-Sync or similar before looking for a new GPU. Let's punish the industry, not out of revenge but because we won't spend the money. No more than 600 for the high end.

Prices normalizing to MSRP? Sure! Now it will just be the MSRP that isn't normal. :p

Its a downward trend that should improve improve over weeks, not instantaneously. As inventories build up, prices go down. Its not a volatile commodity like oil with big ups and downs in reaction to the slightest news.

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 OC still €840 here in the Netherlands.

€600-650 and i'll probably buy it, even though that's still a lot.

Seeing it's never gonna get that low, i'll first wait for Intel and RTX 4000 reviews.

    @Undying second that.
What real options are out here for upgrade from a RX580 with 256 bus and 8GB Vram?
    For around 200-250?
I am waiting, AMD and Nvidia ...

There is no options my friend. For a 250eur there is only 6500xt. Even the 3050 stills costs 350eur+.

I think the $150-$400 space is where most gamers are waiting on a return to normalcy.

I did just see a 6500XT going for $239, so perhaps there is some hope. Though, that card should probably be $150-$180, considering it's effectively the same as my 7.5 year old gtx970 (~$350 back then). Personally, I need the $300ish cards back. Just checked: 3070 GPUs are priced at $800+ and the 3060 series are still priced at $550+.

We are nowhere near MSRP in the enthusiast space that I am waiting on.

Same here. Prices are still much higher than just 16% over MSRP.

3070TI is €799 here now, at december it was well over €1600. That is a huge drop.

I've noticed. Seen few for 830€ and 890€. Its the odd one. Apparently selling for the same price as regular 3070.

I wrote this in the other thread but but if you live in the US definitely check out Microcenter.. the one by me has pretty much every GPU from both AMD/Nvidia in stock at MSRP prices and my buddy down in Georgia said similar.
