Radeon R9 290x is almost 2x faster than HD 7970 -- normal or better optimization GPGPU! :D

I'll buy R9 390x due to able to run older to newer ATi-AMD demos to add to my new rig with new ASUS mboard, CPU Intel upgraded... in a few next years. And I'll have GTX 580 + GTX 670 + R9 390x in one mboard. :D

    7970m @991/1465: 84.4s. Not bad for a 2 year old mobile gpu :)

knocked off 2 and bit seconds going from 1150/1650 overclock on my 7970 which got me just over 40 seconds

Went with overclock of 1200/1650 and got 38 seconds :)

Overclocking does help with this, more so on the core than the memory.

I bet I could get better score but my 7970 can only reach 1200MHz on the core but needs 1.2v and when playing games will start to show artifacts after time. Best overclock for my card is 1150/1650 but it only needs 1.138v and is 100% stable. Bumping to 1200MHz core and its unstable at any voltage.

Although I have re-downloaded, repaired, and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Visual Studio 2013 (which was already installed), I still get the 'msvcp120.dll is missing' error.

    Meh.

    Sorry, I don't buy R9 390x because I have bought 780Ti, 2 months after GTX 580 (freeze - RMA to GTX 770SC).

    Win 8.1 x64 with new GTX 780 Ti Classified@OC version 1020MHz core-stock with 347.71beta.

    I can beat by 1.19x (woww?! :D) @-Tj-. xD I'm weird. :)
    Because:
    My: 1150x15 stream processors = 17.250GHz
    -Tj-: 1241x12 = 14.892GHz

17.250/14.892 = 1.16x ratio - Dunno why 1.19x but I think my card is monster (=more area of card than reference GTX 780Ti). :)

    I see what you're saying: 1.19 > 1.16
Clearly Tj doesn't know how to optimize and stuff

Your first GPU sucks, palming off 0.5 percent of it's work onto the second GPU, and thinking nobody would notice ;)
